Other screens

Tablets, TRMNLs, and e-readers can show individual detections or the collage. Each one appears in the Frames list, and you must add it before it shows anything.

In the examples below, replace http://<your-server> with your Featherframe webapp's address:

  • Featherframe Cloud: https://cloud.featherframe.app. Each frame shows a setup code until you add it with Pair a frame. See Add a frame.
  • Self-hosted: for example http://birdnet.local:8181.

iPad or Android tablet

Open http://<your-server>/view in the browser. It shows the picture in color, full screen, and changes when the frame changes.

iPad:

  1. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It then opens without the browser's toolbars.
  2. Go to Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock, and choose Never.
  3. Optional: turn on Guided Access to keep the iPad on Featherframe.

Android: use Fully Kiosk Browser to keep the screen on.

Boox and other e-paper Android tablets: set up as for Android. In the tablet's refresh settings, choose the clearest mode for the browser.

TRMNL

The 10.3" TRMNL X has the same screen as the EE03 kit, so the picture looks the same. The 7.5" TRMNL OG shows only 4 shades of gray.

  1. Hold the button on the back for 5 seconds to open Wi-Fi setup.
  2. In the advanced options, set the server to http://<your-server>. Don't add a / at the end.

A TRMNL checks for a new picture every 15 minutes, and every hour during quiet hours.

Kobo, Kindle, and KOReader

  1. Install TRMNL's app for your device:
  2. Set its API URL to http://<your-server>/api.
  3. Set its token to any text.

Note

These apps don't report the screen size. Set it under Screen size in the frame's settings in the Frames list. Until then, the picture is 1072 × 1448 pixels.

Any other screen

On a self-hosted server, any device that can show an image from a URL can show the picture, and you can change any frame's settings from the command line. See How it works.
