Text Entries

Text Entries

Text Entries display configurable text on a UniPanels panel.

They can be used for:

• custom labels;
• machine information;
• source-based values;
• status messages;
• scrolling text;
• grouped text/icon compositions.

Creating a Text Entry

Open the panel editor and go to:

Content → + Text

A new Text Entry is added to the panel and can then be configured from its editor.

General

The General section contains the main text value.

You can edit the displayed text directly from the Text Entry workspace.

Depending on the panel type and entry configuration, the text may be:

• custom text;
• a label;
• a value associated with a configured source.

Size

Text size can be adjusted from the Style section.

Changing the size affects how large the text appears on the panel.

The Live Preview can be used to check the result before leaving the editor.

Color

Text color can be edited from the contextual Color inspector.

The color editor provides:

• preset colors;
• Red, Green and Blue controls;
• the current color value.

Changes are applied to the selected Text Entry.

Alignment

Text position is controlled through the Alignment inspector.

Horizontal alignment supports:

• Left
• Center
• Right

Vertical alignment supports:

• Top
• Center
• Bottom

Fine horizontal and vertical positioning can also be adjusted using the alignment controls.

Scrolling

Eligible Text Entries can scroll horizontally.

Scrolling settings include:

• Scroll enabled/disabled;
• scrolling speed.

When the entry is not part of a group, these settings belong to the individual Text Entry.

Synchronized Groups

A Text Entry can be assigned to a scrolling group.

While grouped:

• the group's Scroll setting controls whether the group moves;
• the group's Speed setting controls the shared movement speed;
• all members move by the same physical displacement;
• relative spacing between group members is preserved.

The Text Entry's individual scroll settings remain stored underneath the group configuration.

If the entry leaves the group, its individual settings become active again.

Label Visibility

Where supported, the entry's label can be shown or hidden from the Text Entry editor.

This uses the same existing label behavior as other supported content entries.

Live Preview

The Text Entry editor supports the UniPanels Live Preview.

Use Preview mode to inspect changes to:

• text;
• size;
• color;
• alignment;
• scrolling;
• group behavior.

The preview can be zoomed and rotated without closing the editor.

Returning to Content

Use Back to return to the Content list.

The browser-style navigation system also allows you to use Forward to return to the Text Entry editor if needed.

Your entry settings remain associated with the panel while navigating between pages.
