Primal Category

The Primal category is Thaumic Forever's endgame research branch. It contains some of the mod's most powerful artifacts, tools, weapons, focus effects and machines.

Primal recipes commonly require rare materials such as Primordial Pearls, primal metal and other late-game components. Many of them also use expensive infusion recipes with high instability.

Unlocking the category

The Primal tab becomes available after completing RESEARCHPRIMAL, displayed in the Thaumonomicon as Ancient Research.

Opening the category does not immediately unlock all of its contents. Most Primal researches are hidden discoveries obtained through research scrolls or Knowledge Epiphanies.

Main research

The category begins with PRIMAL, which introduces primal metal and unlocks the Primal Ingot and Primal Block. These materials are used by many later Primal recipes.

STUFF	Stuff	Unlocks the Primal Charm, Purifying Bottle and Vis Bottle.
PRIMALTIMESTONE	Temporal Accelerator	Unlocks the Temporal Accelerator, an extremely powerful machine that accelerates nearby ticking devices.
PRIMALTOOLS	Primal Tools	Unlocks powerful Primal tools designed for endgame use.
TAINT_AMULET	Amulet of Taint	Unlocks an amulet that protects against Taint poisoning and prevents tainted creatures from targeting the wearer.
PRIMAL_FOCI	Focus Effect: Chaos	Unlocks the Chaos focus effect, which prepares a random compatible focus chain and releases it on the following cast.
PRIMAL_ELEMENT	Focus Effect: Primal Elements	Unlocks a focus effect that strikes the target with a sequence of primal elemental forces.
PRIMAL_RUPTURE	Focus Effect: Primal Rupture	Unlocks a focus effect that directly damages a target through conventional armor, absorption and similar defenses.

Using a Knowledge Epiphany immediately completes the research stored inside it.

Optional integration

When Thaumic Additions is installed, the category also contains PrimordialGuardian.

The Primordial Guardian uses Caeles essentia and Primordial Pearls to grant a player one-use protection from death. Its research can appear in the Primal research scroll pool.
