Attacking:

A katana is used to deal damage to mobs and entities by attacking them. The katana has 7 () base damage, and can be enchanted to deal more damage. The following tables show how the Sharpness enchantment affects the damage dealt by the sword.

Extra damage of Sharpness enchantment:

Sharpness I Sharpness II Sharpness III Sharpness IV Sharpness V
1 () 2 () 3 () 5 () 6 ()

Total damage of katana with Sharpness:

Attack Type Base Damage Sharpness I Sharpness II Sharpness III Sharpness IV Sharpness V
Normal 7 () 8 () 9 () 10 () 12 ($\times 6$) 13 ($\times 6.5$)
Critical 10.5 ($\times 5.25$) 12 ($\times 6$) 13.5 ($\times 6.75$) 15 ($\times 7.5$) 18 ($\times 9$) 19.5 ($\times 9.75$)

Dashing:

Holding use with the katana readies the sword for a dash. Upon release, the weilder dashes in a straight line for 4 ticks, hitting any entity encountered along the way. If the weilder is in the air the dash is weaker and cannot deal damage. Dashes cannot be performed while gliding with an Elytra.
