Construction project

Updated 31 October 2026. Issued private alpha: 0.19.328. This is not a public beta or a Thunderstore package. Version and limits.
The internal 0.19.329 candidate has passed eight bounded native data checks. Four direct producer-profile checks (.blueprint/.vbuild) have passed independent review. Acceptance of 2.17 covers codec/profile data only in the internal 0.19.329 candidate. Strict player-state endpoints differ; the cause is not established. Inventory, source files and catalogue content hashes were preserved; the ordinary-save comparison covered metadata only. This run does not establish UI, world construction, new visual frames, networking or a cold-process test. The next requirement is 2.18; the 2.16 HOLD is unchanged. The .280 examples and 23 October captures describe their historical version; they do not validate 0.19.328 or the 0.19.329 candidate.
Experimental workflow. Earlier QA .279 has limited in-game evidence for Wood payment, cancellation, collection, and restarts. Every house, item type, old save, and host+remote cycle is not yet accepted. Current QA .280 has not rerun this broad refund/payment series. A visible button does not establish release readiness.
A project lets you leave a planned building and return with materials. Start with a saved blueprint placed through the normal workflow. A stopped project should retain its stake/board. If your version only shows a temporary shortage, do not assume it is the durable project system.
- Approach the board with a usable hammer selected/equipped. Use Valheim Interact, E by default.
- Read Built: … / … parts, the remaining costs, and any refusal. Remaining costs are not a refund quote.
- Bring materials in your inventory and meet station/permission requirements. Automatic supply from a shared chest is not promised here.
- Select Continue construction. Confirmed parts become native objects with normal costs. If work stops, read the new result before retrying.
- Close keeps the project. Collect missing materials and return to the same board.
Expected result: confirmed paid parts are built; the remainder stays planned. The ghost is pass-through and does not provide usable future containers/items. Separate white volumetric mist is disabled; the surface, contact opening, and recovery remain. Full visual acceptance of the new delivery is still open.
- Open the board and select Cancel project.
- Read the confirmation and press again only if you agree. The paid cancellation path removes built project parts before refunding: this changes the world.
- If nothing was contributed, the ghost/board disappears without granting resources.
- If payment occurred, wait for confirmed removal and saving, then reopen the board for the refund. Refunding the cost must not also leave the paid result behind.
- When available, select Issue refund, read the prompt, and confirm with a second press.
- Collect the returned items near the board using Interact. This is a controlled collection path; do not assume ordinary automatic drops or repeat issuance.
- If told Free one inventory slot to collect the refund. Nothing was collected., free a slot and interact with the remaining item again. This refusal/retry has limited Wood-scenario evidence.
- Confirm the item is in your inventory. Do not edit journals or saves to receive it again.
Operation needs verification: repeated construction/automatic refunds are blocked. Keep the log, version, and project ID for the developer. Do not place a replacement project on top or manually grant resources while the original outcome is uncertain.
Limits: the panel explicitly says mounted/container contents remain unavailable in this construction path. Other real items/properties, power-loss, every early refusal, and multiplayer need separate evidence. A short Wood test does not establish them.
EarthWorks is not required. Cancelling a building does not modify or restore terrain. A shared board/store across both mods is future work.
