Widgets — Legacy

Classic domain widgets for events, people, side navigation, ribbons, and related patterns. Prefer Widgets for new general layout and content. Use these when you need listings or chrome that NDT does not replace.

Triptych

Three-card highlight for internal pages, with an optional title and “further reading” link.

When to use: Landing sections that promote three related child or sibling pages.

Field Options Notes
Title Text Optional section heading.
Further reading link CMS page Optional.
Further reading link text Text Label for the further reading link.
Left card CMS page Page featured in the left card.
Center card CMS page Page featured in the center card.
Right card CMS page Page featured in the right card.

Children: None.

Tips: Pick pages that already have good Page-Meta (image and summary) so cards look complete.

Date and Time

Shows a start/end date and time range on the page. When the page has a related Event record, saving this widget can sync those values into Events admin.

When to use: Event pages where you want the schedule visible in the body.

End time Time Optional.

Children: None.

Tips: Keep this in sync with Events admin data so listings and the page agree.

Location

Venue name, address, and optional map link.

When to use: Event or contact sections that need a physical location.

Field Options Notes
Name Text Venue or place name.
Address Text Street address or description.
Google maps link URL text Optional deep link to maps.

Children: None.

Tips: Prefer a full HTTPS maps URL so visitors can open directions in one click.

Archive Link

Link into the archive experience, optionally scoped by tags.

When to use: “View archived stories” style calls to action. See Archiving.

Field Options Notes
Text Text Required link label.
Optional tags Page tags (multi) Limit which archive categories apply.

Children: None.

Tips: Create and maintain tags in Page-Tags before you rely on tag filters here.

Phone Number

Displays a phone number as a clickable tel link.

When to use: Contact blocks and sidebars.

Field Options Notes
Phone number Text Required.

Children: None.

Tips: Use a consistent format across the site (for example with country or area code).

Events Insert

Filtered insert of upcoming (or ranged) events with optional title and further reading link.

When to use: Homepage or section pages that highlight a subset of events.

Field Options Notes
Title Text Optional heading.
Further reading link CMS page Optional.
Further reading link text Text Label for that link.
Events after date Date Include events on/after this date.
Events before date Date Include events on/before this date.
Limit Number Cap how many events appear.
Tags Page tags (multi) Filter by page tags.

Children: None.

Tips: Pair with solid Events records and tagged event pages. For a fuller list layout, compare #Event List.

Event List

List of events with optional “view more” link and a switch to limit to child-page events.

When to use: Events landing pages and section indexes.

Field Options Notes
Title Text Optional heading.
Events after date Date Optional lower bound.
Events before date Date Optional upper bound.
Child events only On / off (default off) When on, only events under the current page tree.
Limit Number Optional cap.
Tags Page tags (multi) Optional filter.
View more link CMS page Optional.
View more link text Text Label for view more.

Children: None.

Tips: Turn on Child events only when each section owns its own event subtree.

Page Tags

Renders the tags attached to the current page via Page-Meta.

When to use: Story or person pages where you want tags visible to readers.

Field Options Notes
(none) — Reads tags from the page’s preview extension.

Children: None.

Tips: If nothing appears, add tags on the page’s Page Meta first. Tag vocabulary is managed in Page-Tags.

Button Link

Simple button linking to an internal page or external URL.

When to use: Quick CTAs in legacy layouts. For new work prefer Widgets-NDT-Content#Button.

Field Options Notes
Text Text Required button label.
Link CMS page Optional internal destination.
External link URL text Optional external destination.

Children: None.

Tips: Set either Link or External link, not conflicting destinations without a clear preference (internal wins in many NDT widgets; keep this plugin consistent by filling only one).

Email Link

Mailto link styled as a text/button link.

When to use: Contact email CTAs.

Field Options Notes
Text Text Required visible label.
Email Email address Required.

Children: None.

Tips: Use a monitored inbox; this creates a public mailto on the page.

Person List (Grid)

Grid of person pages that are children of the current page (person template), optionally filtered by tags.

When to use: People directory landings in a grid layout. See People.

Field Options Notes
Title Text Optional heading.
Tags Page tags (multi) Optional filter.
Order Name (A → Z) (default), Name (Z → A), Position (A → Z), Position (Z → A) Sort order.

Children: None (pulls child person pages automatically).

Tips: Position sorting reads a #Simple Text widget on each person page. Put role/title there if you sort by position.

Person List (Stacked)

Same data source as the grid list, stacked vertically.

When to use: Narrow columns or long bios where a stack reads better than a grid.

Field Options Notes
Title Text Optional heading.
Tags Page tags (multi) Optional filter.
Order Name (A → Z) (default), Name (Z → A), Position (A → Z), Position (Z → A) Sort order.

Children: None.

Tips: Same position/Simple Text tip as the grid list.

Simple Text

Short plain text string. Also used as the position source for person list sorting.

When to use: Person pages (role/title line) and other places that need a single unformatted line.

Field Options Notes
Text Text Required.

Children: None.

Tips: On person pages, keep one Simple Text with the job title if you rely on Position sorting in person lists. For rich text, use the CMS Text plugin or NDT content widgets instead.

Person List Item

Manually authored person teaser (not auto-pulled from child pages).

When to use: One-off people highlights that are not (or not yet) person pages.

Name Text Required.
Image Image upload Required.
Title Text Required role or title.
Summary Long text Required short bio/summary.

Children: None.

Tips: For directories that should stay in sync with person pages, prefer Person List (Grid/Stacked). For NDT styling, see Widgets-NDT-Cards#People card.

Side Navigation Child Page List

Builds side-nav links from child pages, with ordering and optional second-level children.

When to use: Section sidebars that mirror the page tree. See Navigation-and-Search.

Field Options Notes
Tags Page tags (multi) Optional filter on which children appear.
Link order Page Order (default), Title (A → Z), Title (Z → A), Publication Date (Newest → Oldest), Publication Date (Oldest → Newest) Top-level child ordering.
Show second level children On / off (default off) Include grandchildren.
Child link order Same choices as Link order (default Page Order) Ordering for the second level.

Children: None.

Tips: Publication date ordering uses Page-Meta sort/publish date. Use Page Order when editors carefully arrange the tree.

Side Navigation Page Link

Single manual link in a side navigation context.

When to use: Adding a page that is outside the automatic child list, or overriding the label.

Field Options Notes
Page CMS page Destination page.
Text Text Optional custom label; falls back to the page title when empty.

Children: None.

Tips: Combine with Child Page List widgets in the same side-nav placeholder for mixed automatic + manual menus.

Side Navigation Dynamic Filter

Renders the dynamic filter UI for side navigation (no configuration fields).

When to use: Sidebars that let visitors filter by configured categories/tags.

Field Options Notes
(none) — Behavior comes from site/tag configuration.

Children: None.

Tips: Ensure Page-Tags and related navigation setup exist, or the filter may look empty. See Navigation-and-Search.

Ribbon

Promotional ribbon with title, caption, and internal or external link.

When to use: Horizontal promo bands without a large image.

External link URL text Optional.
Link text Text Optional CTA label.
Title Text Optional.
Caption Long text Optional supporting copy.

Children: None.

Tips: For image-led ribbons use #Ribbon with Image or #Ribbon with Image (alt). For modern NDT heroes prefer Widgets-NDT-Layout#Banner.

Ribbon with Image

Ribbon promo that includes an image.

When to use: Featured stories or campaigns that need a photo beside the copy.

Link text Text Optional CTA label.
Title Text Optional.
Caption Long text Optional.

Children: None.

Tips: Add meaningful alt text via your media workflow when possible; keep title short so the ribbon does not wrap awkwardly.

Ribbon with Image (alt)

Alternate visual treatment of the image ribbon (same fields).

When to use: When design calls for the alternate ribbon layout from the Plugin Showcase.

Tips: Compare both ribbon-with-image variants on Plugin Showcase before you standardize a section.

Generic Child Page List

Lists child pages of a chosen parent (or the current page), with sorting, limit, and optional view-more link.

When to use: Section indexes, “related pages,” or news-style lists driven by the page tree and tags.

Title Text Optional heading.
Tags Page tags (multi) Optional filter.
Order Title (A → Z), Title (Z → A), Publication Date (Newest → Oldest), Publication Date (Oldest → Newest) Optional; leave unset for default date behavior.
Parent page CMS page Whose children to list; defaults to the current page when empty.
Show publication date On / off (default off) Show dates in the list.
Limit Number Optional cap.
View more link CMS page Optional.
View more link text Text Label for view more.

Children: None.

Tips: Set Parent page when you embed this list on a page that is not the section root.

External Link

Titled outbound link with optional rich description.

When to use: Resource lists and “elsewhere on the web” citations.

Field Options Notes
Title Text Required.
Link URL text Required destination.
Description Rich text Optional.

Children: None.

Tips: Use clear titles (“Application portal”) rather than raw URLs as the title.

Image (full width)

Full-width image with optional caption and alt text.

When to use: Legacy full-bleed photos in older page layouts. For new work prefer Widgets-NDT-Media#Image single with Full width layout.

Image Image upload Required.
Caption Long text Optional.
Alt text Text Optional but strongly recommended for accessibility.

Children: None.

Tips: Always fill Alt text unless the image is purely decorative.
