Recovery and Troubleshooting
Before entering a dream, Reverie saves the player's waking state and writes a separate recovery backup to disk before clearing anything.
Normal awakening:
- Saves an authorized anchor-scoped Dream Inventory when applicable.
- Clears all temporary vanilla and supported modded dream slots.
- Restores the waking state.
- Marks the recovery snapshot complete but retains it for administrative recovery.
If a failed or interrupted transition leaves an unfinished waking backup, the bed owner can recover it without an operator:
- Return to your own Dreamweaver's Bed in the Overworld.
- Make sure you are no longer in an active Reverie session.
- Sneak-use the bed with an empty hand.
- Read the confirmation, then repeat the action within ten seconds.
The backup closes after a successful restoration so it cannot be reused. This is an emergency safeguard, not a normal inventory-management feature.
Start with:
/reverie doctor
/reverie audit <player>
/reverie recovery status <player>
If the player is still active in the Reverie, prefer:
/reverie awaken <player>
If necessary, an operator can restore the latest waking backup:
/reverie recovery restore <player>
Before restoring, Reverie saves the player's current state as a rollback. Use /reverie recovery rollback <player> if the wrong backup was restored.
Interrupted wake-ups and recovery restores ignore saved coordinates. Reverie attempts a safe bed exit first, then the player's respawn location or world spawn.
Recovery commands require the target player to be online.
Run /reverie doctor. Confirm that Reverie is installed on the server and every client, and that everyone is using the same version.
Check that the bed is in the Overworld, the confirmation has not expired, and the bed has room. Guests may need the owner to enter first. A player with no Dream Time or remaining Drowsiness cannot enter. Nearby monsters prevent Survival players from entering.
Drowsiness counts down while the player is online in the Overworld. It can also be reduced by using Phantom Membranes on that player's own Dreamweaver's Bed.
Use an empty main hand when removing a charge. Each interaction should change the cage by one level.
Run /reverie purge status. Operators can start an incremental check with /reverie purge run or inspect all currently loaded Reverie chunks immediately with /reverie purge force.
Confirm that the item is absent from both functional and cosmetic Curios or Accessories slots, then reconnect. Run /reverie audit <player> and include the relevant mod versions when reporting the problem.
Use the issue tracker. Report inventory duplication or item-loss problems privately through GitHub security advisories.
