Getting Started

← User Manual

Switch it on

Power the device. After a few seconds you arrive at the Ready screen, which is the dashboard everything returns to.

It shows:

  • The circuit currently loaded, and its state
  • The session and rest durations it will use
  • Readiness lines for GPS, storage and the motion sensor

Nothing is running yet. Ready is a waiting room.

The one gesture you cannot guess

Press and hold a finger anywhere on the screen to open the menu.

A tap will not do it. This is deliberate: in a moving vehicle a stray touch must not be able to open a menu, so opening one takes a deliberate hold. Once you are in the menu, a tap is all you need.

See Moving Around for the full set.

Your first session

  1. Hold to open the menu.
  2. Swipe to MODE and tap it. Choose TRACK DAY for a first outing — it shows a session countdown and records laps without displaying live times.
  3. Hold again, swipe to TRACK, and choose your circuit.
  4. Hold again, swipe to SETUP → DEVICE SETTINGS, and set SESSION to your session length.
  5. Back at Ready, start the session.

Setting it up takes a minute. Do it in the paddock, not on the grid.

Reading the Ready screen

The track line tells you what the device will actually do:

It says It means
A circuit name, plainly Loaded, and timing will arm
A circuit name marked provisional Loaded, but timing will not arm — it runs as a plain timer
Suggested The device thinks it knows where you are, but you have not confirmed it
Ambiguous More than one circuit matches your position
Missing or invalid The stored choice could not be read from the card
Nothing No circuit chosen

If it says provisional, read Tracks — that is the most common reason a new device does not produce lap times.

While you wait for a fix

A GPS receiver needs a clear view of the sky and up to a minute from cold. Until it has a fix, the readiness line says so.

To watch it acquire, open MODE → GPS ONLY. That screen shows satellite count, fix type and accuracy as they change, and it distinguishes no receiver from no fix — which are different problems with different fixes.
