← User Manual

Hold → TRACK lists every circuit on the memory card. Tap one to load it. The choice is saved and survives a power cycle.

Why your circuit may not time laps

This is the single most common surprise, so it is worth understanding rather than working around.

Every circuit carries a record of where its geometry came from. The device will only arm timing on one whose start and finish lines have actually been validated:

Marked Timing
provisional Will not arm. Loads, shows its name, runs as a plain session timer
device captured Arms
independently validated Arms
physically validated Arms

Every circuit in the supplied UK pack is provisional. All of them load, and none of them will time a lap.

Why it works that way

A start/finish line read off a map can be out by tens of metres. A lap timed against a line in the wrong place does not fail — it produces a number, and the number is wrong, and nothing on screen says so.

A lap time you cannot trust is worse than no lap time, because you will believe it. So the device refuses to time against geometry nobody has checked, and tells you it is running as a plain timer instead.

Making a circuit timing-ready

A provisional circuit is promoted by capturing its geometry on the device: recording where the lines actually are, with the same receiver that will later time against them.

That is the only route for a road circuit, where there is no pit lane to identify the start/finish straight and no second independent source to check a line against.

Capturing the gates

Hold -> SETUP -> CAPTURE GATES. It works on the circuit currently loaded, so choose your track first.

The screen has its own buttons rather than the usual swipes, and it walks you through eight points - a left and a right end for each of the four lines: start, finish, pit entry and pit exit. For each one, park on the point, wait for the accuracy reading to settle, and capture it.

Three things it will refuse to do, all deliberately:

  • It will not capture while you are moving. A line is a position, and a position taken at speed is a guess.
  • It will not capture while a session is running.
  • It will not save a partial or impossible set of lines. An invalid capture never replaces a definition that already works.

Once all eight are captured and saved, the circuit is marked device captured and timing arms - no restart needed. Your capture is written to its own area of the card, so it can never be confused with a supplied pack and wiping a downloaded pack cannot delete your work.

Allow time and a clear view of the sky. Eight points, each wanting the receiver settled, is not a two-minute job - and it is worth doing once, properly, because every lap time afterwards is measured against it.

Reading the track line on Ready

It says Meaning
The circuit name Loaded and timing will arm
The name, marked provisional Loaded, timer only
Suggested The device recognises where you are but you have not confirmed it
Ambiguous More than one circuit matches your position
Missing The saved choice is not on the card
Invalid It is on the card but could not be read
Nothing Nothing chosen

Missing or invalid usually means the card has been changed or a file is damaged. The device keeps the name so it can tell you which circuit it was looking for.

Selecting a circuit keeps working either way

You can select a provisional circuit and the device will keep it. You lose lap timing, not the session timer — the selection is recorded even when the geometry is not good enough to time against, so you keep your circuit and simply run timer-only.
