User Manual Tracks
Hold → TRACK lists every circuit on the memory card. Tap one to load it. The choice
is saved and survives a power cycle.
This is the single most common surprise, so it is worth understanding rather than working around.
Every circuit carries a record of where its geometry came from. The device will only arm timing on one whose start and finish lines have actually been validated:
| Marked | Timing |
|---|---|
| provisional | Will not arm. Loads, shows its name, runs as a plain session timer |
| device captured | Arms |
| independently validated | Arms |
| physically validated | Arms |
Every circuit in the supplied UK pack is provisional. All of them load, and none of them will time a lap.
A start/finish line read off a map can be out by tens of metres. A lap timed against a line in the wrong place does not fail — it produces a number, and the number is wrong, and nothing on screen says so.
A lap time you cannot trust is worse than no lap time, because you will believe it. So the device refuses to time against geometry nobody has checked, and tells you it is running as a plain timer instead.
A provisional circuit is promoted by capturing its geometry on the device: driving the circuit so the timer records where the lines actually are, from the same receiver that will later time against them.
That is the only route for a road circuit, where there is no pit lane to identify the start/finish straight and no second independent source to check a line against.
| It says | Meaning |
|---|---|
| The circuit name | Loaded and timing will arm |
| The name, marked provisional | Loaded, timer only |
| Suggested | The device recognises where you are but you have not confirmed it |
| Ambiguous | More than one circuit matches your position |
| Missing | The saved choice is not on the card |
| Invalid | It is on the card but could not be read |
| Nothing | Nothing chosen |
Missing or invalid usually means the card has been changed or a file is damaged. The device keeps the name so it can tell you which circuit it was looking for.
You can select a provisional circuit and the device will keep it. You lose lap timing, not the session timer — the selection is recorded even when the geometry is not good enough to time against, so you keep your circuit and simply run timer-only.
