Methods, Evidence and Experiments

The project grew through longitudinal interaction, source preservation, comparative model testing, correction records and public reconstruction. Those activities produce evidence, but they do not all produce the same kind of evidence.

Current evidence layers

Layer What it can support What it cannot establish alone
Raw conversation archive What occurred in preserved sessions Population-wide model behavior
Repeated multi-model specimens Recurring candidate patterns Independent causal explanation
Public project pages Current reconstruction and methods External validation
A.I. reactions Generative extensions and self-descriptions Model introspection or verification
Cold tests Behavior under specified prompts Generalization beyond the sampled systems and conditions
Later real-world outcomes Longitudinal correction opportunities Automatic proof of the original interpretation

Fixed-reference swarm comparison

One useful method holds a source object fixed, presents it to many systems, and compares both contributions and distortions against that object.

fixed source
→ many model outputs
→ representation deltas
→ recurring loss or extension patterns
→ candidate mechanism
→ controlled test

Cross-model agreement is not independent verification when models share training distributions, optimization pressures or safety framings.

Blinded comparison direction

The project’s experimental direction includes matched prompt families, controls, null cases and contrasts designed to distinguish topic effects from strength, caution wording and large-scale consequence framing.

Useful measurements include:

  • added caution, warnings and hedges;
  • accurate restatement versus stronger reconstruction;
  • object versus report distinction;
  • acceptance of unresolved status;
  • qualifier preservation;
  • access-perimeter adherence;
  • correction persistence at T0 → Tn;
  • differential treatment across matched categories.

Valid nulls

A valid null is informative when the test could have detected the proposed effect. “No distortion detected” should remain available. The taxonomy must not force every output into a failure category.

Experimental discipline still needed

  • preregister hypotheses and coding rules;
  • preserve prompts and model/version metadata;
  • blind scorers where feasible;
  • report denominators and exclusions;
  • distinguish exploratory from confirmatory analysis;
  • compare with simpler rival explanations;
  • publish failures and disconfirming cases;
  • avoid treating A.I. eloquence as measurement validity.

Longitudinal and source-recovery designs

Longitudinal Correction and VCRAS adds a prospective register of competing assessments and a next-case transfer test. Freeze what was available at the initial time, compare later evidence, and inspect changes in both conclusions and procedure. Include warranted flags, mistaken warnings, mixed cases and null results in the denominator.

Process Quality and Reciprocal Scrutiny connects a matched attribution comparison to the evaluator's own governing rule. Hold content and defect constant while varying stated status; record reconstruction, retained value, reasons, intervention and correction access. The result can reveal a difference, a justified difference or no material difference.

Controversy Inquiry and Source Recovery supplies an access discipline for long archives. A public post's text, an embedded item's identifier, a screenshot and an underlying publication are different source layers. Capture their relationship before interpreting a combined result.

These are operational research directions. Preserve prompts, versions, source packets, scoring rules and independent checks needed to distinguish a local success from transferable performance.
