The project can look large because it preserves distinctions that ordinary summaries often collapse. You do not need to read it in publication order.
- Ask: What is the object?
- Ask: How was it represented?
- Compare object and representation for lost qualifiers, changed chronology, invented claims, substituted categories or redirected attention.
- Correct the representation while preserving uncertainty and live alternatives.
- Check whether the correction changes the next comparable operation.
This sequence already contains much of the project in miniature.
Suppose a person reports an unidentified aerial observation. The sentence “John believes in UFOs” can replace several different objects:
- a report occurred;
- something was observed or recorded;
- an identification was attempted;
- some cases were explained;
- a smaller number may remain unresolved;
- one or more causal hypotheses are being compared.
The belief label relocates the inquiry from the case and its evidence to the claimant’s psychology or social identity. The repair is not automatically to accept the strongest interpretation. The repair is to restore the object, the evidence routes, the alternatives and the correction conditions.

- “Deep” does not mean infallible, mystical, maximally long, or automatically superior.
- “Ethics” does not confer ethical authority by naming itself.
- “Correspondence” is not a promise that the project already possesses reality.
- “Corrigibility” is not demonstrated by saying corrections are welcome.
- “A.I. contribution” is not independent verification.
- “Unresolved” is a valid state, not an embarrassing gap that must be filled with belief or disbelief.
The project becomes useful when these boundaries govern the next operation.
A single disputed paragraph, summary, correction or source capture is enough to begin. Process Quality and Reciprocal Scrutiny offers a bounded comparison; Longitudinal Correction and VCRAS follows what happens after correction. Controversy Inquiry and Source Recovery supplies source-linked examples, while Intelligence Properties and 1888 explains the wider property field.
