Feature Bingo
Added in 2.8.0 Β· System β Feature Bingo Β· Developer guide
Most people use a small part of any system they buy - not because the rest is not useful, but because nobody ever finds it. Feature Bingo is one card for everything FreeITSM can do - over 600 of them, in every module, from at least one analyst down to the smallest switch - with a star that lights up once it is set up on your install.
It is the first card on the System page.
- The score - how many of the features that apply to you are lit, as a number, a percentage and a bar, with a line per tier.
- Filters - search, module, category, tier, and what to show: everything that counts, only what is not set up yet, only what is, or only what you have set aside.
- Cards, grouped by module with a count for each. A lit card has a gold star.
Every card has:
| Module | where the feature lives |
| Category | what kind of thing it is, across modules - Getting started, AI, Security & access, Automation, Email & notifications, Integrations, Customer experience, Reporting & insight, Organisation & data, Service levels & governance, Working faster, Look & feel |
| Tier | Essential (the install is not really working without it), Recommended (most organisations should), Extra (useful for some) |
Click a card for its explainer: what it is, why it is worth it, the star lights when - exactly what FreeITSM checks, in plain words - and Take me there, which opens the page where it is set up (on Tickets β Settings, straight to the right tab).
A star is worked out from the database each time the page opens. Nobody ticks it by hand, so it can never say something is set up when it is not.
Some features will never apply to you - WhatsApp if you do not use it, Jira if you have no Jira. Open the card and choose Not for us: it greys out and leaves the score. Put it back undoes it.
For a whole module you do not use, choose it in the module filter and press Not for us: all of it.
Choose Not for us in the last filter to see what has been set aside. Needs System β Database Verification once after upgrading; until then the stars work and the button is hidden.
Most cards light when a setting has been changed from its default, a list has your own entries in it, or a feature has actually been used - "at least one workflow sends email", "a mailbox is connected". Where FreeITSM ships rows of its own (statuses, priorities, ticket types), only yours count, so a brand-new install does not light them. A few cards read "the setting has been saved": for a choice that has a sensible default, deciding is the thing.
You can add cards of your own - for your own processes, or for something you have added to your copy of FreeITSM - in a folder no update touches, and they show with an Added here tag. How: Feature Bingo β Developer Guide β Adding your own cards.
