Shared Asset Locations
Each company's locations are its own - a client's offices are nobody else's business. But some places genuinely are shared: a data centre, or a head office, that several clients' equipment sits in. A location can now be shared with every company.
Multi-company installs only.
Go to Assets β Settings β Locations, add or edit a location, and switch on Shared with every company. It then appears in every company's location lists, alongside that company's own, with a Shared badge in Settings.
Each company still has its own private locations, and can add its own rooms or racks inside a shared location - those stay private to that company.
- Only someone with access to every company can share a location, or change or delete a shared one. Changing it changes what every client sees, and deleting it clears it from every client's assets. Everyone else sees shared locations but cannot edit them.
- A shared location must sit at the top level, or inside another shared location. A shared room inside one client's private building would appear to other clients with no building around it.
- You cannot unshare a location while other companies' assets are there. Their assets would be left pointing at a place their own company can no longer see. Move those assets first, or keep it shared.
- Unsharing hands the location to the Default company.
When an asset moves to another company, a shared location goes with it; a private one is cleared.
