People
Folder: people/ Β· Colour: Plum #a21caf Β· Raised in #153
One page per person and per company, with everything FreeITSM knows about them from every module.
The people who raise tickets are the same people who hold laptops, take courses, fill in forms and β since contracts with customers β buy from you. Each module already knew its own part. People puts the parts together, without moving or copying anything: every section is read from the module that owns it, at the moment you open the page.
| Page | What it shows |
|---|---|
| People | Everyone in Users. Search by name, email, job title or employee ID; show current people, leavers or everyone; narrow to one company. |
| Companies | Each company you can see, as a card: its ticket code and email domains, then its people, open tickets and equipment - the same figures its own page shows, and the ticket and equipment figures only if you can open Tickets and Assets. A search box above the cards finds a company by name or ticket code. |
| A person | Their details, manager and the people who report to them β then their tickets (how many are open), the equipment they hold, contracts and domains where they are the customer, their courses and how far through each, and the forms they submitted from the portal. |
| A company | Its people (with a filter), and the same sections for the whole company: its tickets, its equipment and who holds it, contracts with it as the customer, its domains, how many of its people have finished or started each course, and forms its people submitted. |
| Suppliers (3.1.0) | Every organisation in Contracts β Suppliers, with its type, where it is, and how many contacts and contracts it has. Search by the supplier's name, the town, or the name or email of anyone who works there; show current suppliers or all of them. |
| A supplier (3.1.0) | Its details and its contacts, then the contracts with it, the equipment bought from it, and its domains β where it is the registrar, the customer, or the technical contact through one of its people. An As column says which. |
| A supplier contact (3.1.0) | How to reach them, their supplier, and the domains they are named on as customer or technical contact. |
Each section shows ten rows, with Show all for the rest. The coloured counts across the top jump to their section.
- The waffle menu and the landing page β People.
- βK β type a name, an email, a company, a supplier or a supplier's contact.
- From a record β a contract's customer, and a domain's customer and technical contact, link to their pages.
- From Tickets β Users and Assets β Users β the People button on someone opens their page.
Each section comes from its own module and appears only if you can open that module. An analyst who cannot open Tickets sees no Tickets section β not an empty one, which would wrongly suggest the person has never raised a ticket.
Suppliers and their contacts belong to Contracts, so the Suppliers tab and their pages need Contracts as well as People. Without it the tab is not shown and the pages read as not found.
Everything is also limited to the companies you can access. A person in a company you cannot see reads as not found, and so does their company. Tickets, equipment and domains follow the same rule: you see the ones in companies you can access, whichever company the header is set to.
People only reads. Edit in β Tickets / Assets opens the person in Tickets β Users or Assets β Users, where their details are kept and edited, as before. A supplier or a supplier contact has Edit in Contracts.
A supplier's contacts stay in Contracts β Contacts. They are not users: they cannot sign in to the portal, they are not offered when picking who raised a ticket, and directory sync never touches them. People gives them a page and puts them in βK β nothing about them changes. Why it was done this way is on the roadmap page.
People β Help is the guide in the same layout as every other module's: a contents rail, then nine sections - what People is for, finding someone, a person's page (each section explained), companies, suppliers and their contacts, getting there, why a section is missing, changing someone, and who can open People.
People is a module like any other in System β Analysts β Module access. Analysts with access to every module have it straight away; anyone restricted to chosen modules needs it ticked.
