Equipment

The Equipment panel, above your inventory, shows what you have equipped where, and your weapons ready to use. It's D&D 5e's: it comes with that game system, like the character panel (other systems bring panels of their own).

The Equipment panel

Equipment slots

At the top, a box for each of D&D 5e's slots (two Hands and Armor): how full it is (Hands 2 / 2), and what's in it. Tap a name for its details. A slot holding more than it should (three weapons in two hands) shows red. See Your Inventory#equipment-slots for how slots work.

Attacks

For each weapon:

  • To hit: your ability modifier, plus your proficiency bonus if you're proficient, plus any magic bonus. Hover or long-press it to see how it's worked out.
  • Damage, with the two-handed damage for versatile weapons.
  • Reach or range, and which ability it uses. Finesse weapons use the better of STR and DEX.
  • Properties as chips; hover or long-press one for its rule.
  • Off-hand damage for light weapons (two-weapon fighting).
  • For ranged weapons, the ammunition it uses and where it is (quivers first), with − to use one and + to recover one.

An unarmed strike is always listed.

Setting it up

  • Equip weapons with the sword button on their rows (or Equipped in their details). With nothing equipped, the panel shows every weapon you carry.
  • Set your proficiency bonus, and whether you're proficient with Simple and Martial weapons, at the top of the panel.
  • Weapons carried but not equipped are listed under the attacks: tap one to equip it.

Tap the arrow on the panel to collapse it; its header still shows the slots (Hands 2/2 · Armor 1/1) and lists your equipped weapons.

Armor Class

The character panel works out your AC from the armor and shield you wear, your DEX (limited by medium and heavy armor), magic bonuses, and items with an Armor bonus (a Ring of Protection, say: see Item Features). Items that need attunement only count while you're attuned. It uses each item as it is now: an AC bonus that comes with being identified only counts once it is (see Item States and Rules). It warns you when your STR is too low for your armor, or when it gives disadvantage on Stealth.
