Sets and Drawing Cards

A set is an item made of pieces kept together: a deck of playing cards, a tarot deck, a chess set, a bag of tiles. The pieces don't clutter your inventory while they're in the set.

A set's details

Open the set to see its pieces.

A deck of cards

  • Take out one piece, or Take all out. Taken out, a piece is an ordinary item in your inventory, placed where the set is.
  • Put back returns taken-out pieces. A single piece's details also have Put back in the ….

Sets don't stack (each has its own pieces). Selling or trading a set takes its pieces with it.

Drawing at random

Draw a card (or Take one at random for other sets) opens the draw window. These are the set's actions, in its item menu too. A set has them until it has actions of its own: in its editor's Rules tab, + Add a rule → Draw a card (and change its words: Fish one out), or any other (see Item States and Rules).

Four cards drawn

  • The first piece fills the window. Each draw after that shrinks them to share the space (side by side, 2 × 2, 3 × 3…), and once they'd be too small the window scrolls instead.
  • Draw another draws one more. The button shows how many are left.
  • Keep (or closing the window) leaves the drawn pieces in your inventory.
  • Put back returns them all to the set; the small button on each piece returns just that one.

Any container's action can use this window: Take out of it, Where to: into a window (a sack you rummage in, a bag of tiles). There it's Take one more, and Put back returns just what came out.

Making a set

Tick Set in an item's features (see Item Features):

  • One piece is called: card, piece, tile… (it's used in the buttons, e.g. Draw a card).
  • Pieces: a name each, and optionally a picture, like a real card face. Pieces with pictures show them in the set and in the draw window, which takes the shape of the pictures.
    • Add from pictures… makes a piece from each picture you pick, named after its file, so a whole deck's faces can go in at once.
    • Paste a list… adds a piece for each line of names.
