Installing

Windows says it protected my PC. The app isn't code-signed, so SmartScreen warns about it. Choose More info → Run anyway.

Windows Defender quarantined the download (as Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml). That's a false alarm from its automatic guesswork, which flagged versions up to 1.0.1. Download the latest version (ITAMSapp.exe), which it doesn't flag. To keep an older one, restore it in Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Protection history.

Install and restart didn't work. Nothing was changed: it only replaces the app once the download has arrived whole and matches GitHub's checksum. Try again later, or download the new version by hand. After an update, the old version's file stays next to the new one (ITAMSapp.exe.old) until the next start, when it's deleted.

Android won't install the APK. Allow "Install unknown apps" for the app you opened it with (Files, Chrome…). If Play Protect warns, choose to install anyway.

Android says the app conflicts with an existing one. An update has to be signed with the same key as the version you have. If you installed a copy from somewhere else, export your characters, uninstall it, then install the new one.

Joining a party

"There's no party at …"

• Check the whole address, including the number after the colon (e.g. :8765).
• Make sure you're on the same Wi-Fi as the host (not mobile data, not a guest network that keeps devices apart).
• On a Windows host, allow the app through the firewall on private networks. If you chose No earlier, allow it in Windows Security → Firewall → Allow an app through firewall.

"The app is open there, but it isn't hosting a party." The host needs to press Start hosting (Settings → This device → Party).

I'm on the join screen but can't pick my character. It may be open on another device. Close it there, or take it over from here once it's closed.

My character "changed in two places". It changed on this device and in the party while you were away. Choose which version to keep: the party's (e.g. with a trade that happened) or this device's.

The QR scanner can't use the camera. Allow camera access for the app, or use Use a picture with a photo or screenshot of the code.

My data

The web app is empty but I had characters. Each browser, and each web address, keeps its own data. If the Windows or Android app is running on this device, the app offers to open it. Otherwise, import a backup.

Moving to a new device. On the old one, Settings → Files → Export everything (or export one character). On the new one, Settings → Files → Import a file.
