Straw Hats are an equippable hat item. What else is there to say?
They were added in Version 1.4.

Straw Hats can be equipped to look stylish. You wouldn't want to overheat while tilling the fields, would you?
Despite only being equippable on players (and armor stands), some mobs like Skeletons and Zombies are actually able to wear Straw Hats if done so through commands. Here's one you can use to make the nearest mob attempt to wear one, just make sure you're holding a Straw Hat.
/item replace entity @n[type=!player] armor.head from entity @s weapon.mainhand
This item can be displayed in an Item Frame (though it'd look nicer on you).
