Assembly
If you didn't purchase the DIY Kit, please complete the following guides first:
See the documentation for the bridge:
See documentation in the head you want to build
See Assembly | Neck
See documentation in the WingSet you want to build
Note: make sure to feed the wire from the Piezo Mic through the hole to the electronics compartment BEFORE putting any screws into the WingSet.
Using the Fret Sanding Jig, sand down the frets until they are all in line with each other.
Using a fret rocker like this is very helpful. Place it across three frets, and if it can rock back and forth it needs more sanding.
⚠️ Be careful to not sand TOO much away!
- Starting with the center two strings, Feed the strings through the bottom of the bridge out the top of the bridge, and up to the head.
- After you put in your first string, slip the Nut underneath the string so that the indents on the back of the nut are sitting on the Grub Screws in the neck.
- Then add the rest of the strings.
- Tighten the strings until they are playing notes.
Using an M2 Allen key from the back of the head, adjust the nut up and down until the strings are as close to the first fret as they can be without there being fret buzz when no strings are pressed.
Using a M3 Allen Key, tighten the Bridge Adjustment Screw to raise / lower the bridge. You want it as close to the strings as possible while not getting fret buzz when a note is being played with the 1st, 3d, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th, 17th, 19th, and 21st fret pressed. If you get fret buzz on some but not all of these, this is an indication you need to sand your frets more.
Repeat Step 6a and 6b three times to get your action as small as possible!
