What is a "Tensioned Part"

A "Tensioned Part" is a part of the bass that directly contacts the strings and therefore needs to be made stronger because of this.

What Filament can I use? (I have an enclosed printer like a X1C)

PCTG, ABS, ASA, PC, PAA, and PET have all been tested and work for Tensioned Parts.

Any filament can be used for the other parts

What Filaments can I use? (I have an A1)

PCTG is the ONLY recommended filament that can be printed on an open-air printer for Tensioned Parts

Any filament can be used for the other parts

What are the Recommended Print Settings?

All files are provided as .3mf files which have been plated and configured. However, if you happen to lose the settings when changing the printer in the slicer, here is the basic settings.

Settings for Tensioned Parts:

  • Walls: 6
  • Infill: 75% Adaptive Cubic
  • Layer Height: 0.28

Settings for other parts

  • Walls: 3
  • Infill: 25% Adaptive Cubic
  • Layer Height: 0.28

I have an A1 Mini, Can I print the ExoBass?

Yes, but you will be severely limited in your options. For structural reasons, not every WingSet can be chopped up enough to fit on an A1 Mini. Currently, the WingSets that can be printed on the Mini are:

The entire core can be printed on the A1 Mini; but keep in mind that the only recommended filament for the Tensioned Parts is PCTG.

What PCTG Do you recommend?

I am a huge fan of 3D Fuel PCTG

Can I create a Head or WingSet for The ExoBass and release it?

Yes! I would love it if you did!

However, there are some rules:

  • You can only release the Head / WingSet files you create and you must link to the CrowdFunding Campaign for how people can get access to the Core.
  • If you want to make Remixes of any of the core files, please send them to me so I can release them under the campaign.
  • You must use the "ExoBass" name in your model's titles.

Here are some Template files for you to get started:
