To fit UP Core into a metal chassis from the UP shop, you will need to remove the passive heatsink from UP Core.
Please follow the steps here.
- UP-core with a passive heatsink front view. The heatsink adhesive is very tough to avoid heat sink from dislocation or falling off when it was placed upside-down.
- To remove the heatsink, use a flat screwdriver or something similar and pry the heatsink starting from the location below. Do not apply too much force. The purpose here is just to get the heatsink loose.
- Pry the heat sink again at this location, again, do not apply too much force. The purpose here is just to get the heatsink loose.
- Pry the heat sink again at this location, again, do not apply too much force, The purpose here is just to get the heatsink loose.
- Lastly pry the heat sink again at this location, be very cautious as the MIPI connector is very fragile.
- Once all four corners of the heat sink are loose, pull the heat sink from the UP-core board by hand and it should come off.
As you can see, there are several adhesive locations, the easiest way for removal is to start from the DDR memory corners.
