Portable Jukebox and Range
A playing jukebox can be picked up and taken along without stopping the track. Open the player screen, then Advanced, then Take it with me. The block goes into your inventory, notes rise above you, and the track carries on from the same moment, through portals too. Place it back down and the jukebox returns as it was, queue included.
While you carry it, the music is sent to you directly rather than from a point in the world, so it doesn't break up as you run. Everyone else keeps hearing it positionally, from where you stand. Both handovers overlap, so there is no gap and no jump in volume.
There are two volumes: the jukebox's own, heard by everyone, and yours while you carry it. Both are under Advanced.
/cdisc player scoreboard [on | off]
puts the lyrics into your sidebar while you carry a jukebox; everyone else reads them over your head.
The music stops and the jukebox becomes an ordinary item again when you drop it, put it in a chest, die with it or leave the server. The discs stay inside either way.
- A jukebox in a speaker group stays put, owner or not: a group is a fixed set of positions.
- You need a free inventory slot.
- One carried jukebox per player by default. Each extra one is another track playing out of you.
# config.yml
portable-jukebox:
enabled: true
max-per-player: 1
particle-interval-ticks: 50The base range is 32 blocks, set by svc-config.distance in config.yml for both voice plugins. A beacon pyramid under the jukebox adds more: build the pyramid (the beacon block itself is not needed), then raise the level from Advanced in the player screen. The highest level you can pick is capped by the pyramid's tier.
| Pyramid tier | Extra range | Total at base 32 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | +16 | 48 blocks |
| 2 | +32 | 64 blocks |
| 3 and above | +64 | 96 blocks |
# config.yml
beacon-range-boost:
level-1: 16
level-2: 32
level-3: 64A larger range means more listeners per jukebox, and so more outgoing traffic. Fine for a town square; less so for a dozen jukeboxes across the map.
sound-anchor:
entity: block_displayThe audio comes from an invisible entity at the jukebox rather than from fixed coordinates, which is what lets it follow a carried jukebox without restarting the track. block_display is recommended. marker is the cheapest but may never reach the client; armor_stand also works.
