Speaker Groups
Several jukeboxes playing one track in sync, each from its own spot. This is how you cover a club, an arena or a town square that one jukebox can't reach.
Two jukeboxes with the same disc drift apart within seconds and turn into an echo. A group has only one decode, on the main jukebox, and every speaker plays its output, so there is nothing to drift.
From the player screen of the jukebox that will be the main: Advanced, then Speaker group. Name the group in chat (a single . cancels) and pick speakers from the list of free jukeboxes nearby.
Or by command:
/cdisc pair create <name> on the jukebox you look at; it becomes the main
/cdisc pair add <name> adds the jukebox you look at to that group
A jukebox that is playing, holds a disc or has a queue can't become a speaker. A jukebox already in another group can't be added, and the refusal names that group.
The main holds the discs, the queue and the player screen, and it is the only one that decodes. Speakers take no discs and open no screen: everything goes through the main.
Breaking a speaker removes it from the group. Breaking the main dissolves the group, and every jukebox becomes ordinary again.
With protect-members: true, only the player who made the group may change it or break its jukeboxes. Operators always may, so an owner who never returns doesn't leave the group locked.
# config.yml
speaker-group:
enabled: true
max-distance: 64 # blocks from the main, same world
max-per-group: 8 # the main included
protect-members: trueThe distance limit is real: a speaker plays from an entity in its own chunk, so a far one would play only while somebody keeps that chunk loaded. Each speaker is also a separate audio source for every listener near it, so the cost multiplies with the count.
Every jukebox has its own channel, volume, name and particles, in a group or standing alone. For a lone jukebox they are under Advanced; for a group member, open the main's Speaker group page and click the member.
| Channel | Plays |
|---|---|
| Stereo | both channels, as they are |
| Mono | both folded into one |
| Left | only the left channel of the track |
| Right | only the right one |
Put two speakers on either side of a room, one left and one right, and the stereo image spreads across it. Volume runs from 0 to 100; 0 mutes a speaker without taking it out of the group. A name, such as "Bar" or "Upstairs", up to 24 characters, is shown wherever the jukebox is listed.
These settings are kept in the block and survive a restart.
