Resources Dusts and Alloys
Slimefun's technology tree depends on turning ordinary Minecraft resources into a much larger set of processed materials.
If a machine recipe seems to require a confusing chain of components, it usually starts here.
A common early progression looks like this:
vanilla resource → processed ore/material → dust → ingot → alloy/component → machine
Different resources use different steps, but the pattern is important: Slimefun rewards building a reusable processing workshop instead of crafting every ingredient from scratch each time.
Classic Slimefun includes a range of metal dusts used as ingredients for ingots, alloys and higher-tier components. Examples historically include materials such as copper, tin, silver, lead, aluminum, zinc, magnesium, iron and gold.
The exact available materials on a server depend on its Slimefun build, disabled items and addons.
Processed dusts can lead into specialized ingots and alloy recipes. Some alloys become recurring ingredients throughout the technology tree, so keeping a stockpile saves a lot of time later.
Typical alloy-focused progression includes materials used for:
- reinforced machine parts
- electronic components
- power systems
- advanced tools and armor
- Cargo and GPS components
- reactor technology
Use the Enhanced Guide to work backward from the item you actually want.
A good method is:
- Search for the final machine or item.
- Open its recipe.
- Inspect the unfamiliar component.
- Continue backward until you reach materials you already know how to make.
- Bookmark frequently used intermediate components.
This is much faster than trying to memorize Slimefun's entire material tree.
Once your base grows, reserve storage for frequently used intermediate materials rather than only vanilla blocks.

- raw/vanilla inputs
- dusts
- ingots
- alloys
- carbon-based materials
- technical components
- radioactive materials
- addon-specific resources
Later, Cargo can automate much of this movement.
Some advanced resources are associated with Slimefun's GEO systems rather than normal mining. GEO scanning and mining are covered in GPS, GEO & Teleportation.
Some late-game resources should not be handled like ordinary crafting ingredients. See Radiation & Reactors before carrying nuclear materials around your base.
