Repository navigation
App settings
The settings for Coodoo itself, for all projects, are under the gear icon at the top right (Settings). There are seven sections. Click Save to keep your changes; the appearance changes right away.
- Language: Nederlands or English. English by default; you can also switch it at the bottom right of the license screen.
- Light or dark: Light, Dark (default) or System (follows your computer).
Open another project: Ask every time (default), In this window or In a new window.
System notifications: notifications when a goal is done or failed, the queue is empty, a failsafe steps in, there are updates or your GitHub token is about to expire. On by default.
Coodoo keeps your settings in your own private repository coodoo-settings on GitHub. When you work on another computer, Coodoo gets them there by itself, and you don't have to set anything up again. Coodoo creates the repository itself, the first time it needs it.
-
settings/global/settings.json: the app's settings, such as models, effort, context, theme, language and notifications. -
settings/<owner>/<repo>/settings.json: a project's settings, such as roles, phases, release and MCP servers. Secret values are not in it. -
settings/<owner>/<repo>/vault.enc: the project's shared vault, encrypted.
What belongs to one computer stays there: the project folder, the paths to Claude Code and Codex, ports and your own services. The flow is kept in the project itself. If you change different settings on two computers, the newest one wins per setting.
coodoo-settings must stay private. Coodoo checks that on every sync. If it was made public, Coodoo makes it private again right away and sends nothing until that worked. You then see a notice at this setting. Sync now, or ⌘⇧S (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+S) anywhere in Coodoo, gets the newest settings straight away.
For this your token needs access to all repositories, so it also covers coodoo-settings.
Where Coodoo puts projects when you open or create them. By default ~/CoodooProjects. Change it with Choose….
For each agent (Claude Code and Codex):
- whether it was found, and which version;
- Model and effort; see The team;
- Advanced → Path to CLI: if the program is installed in an unusual place.
Search again looks for the agents again.
Running → Time limit per step: the longest a step may take before it's stopped, from 5 to 240 minutes. Default 45.
- Context window: how much text an agent can take in at once: 200k, 400k, 500k, 750k or 1M tokens (default 1M, or less if the model can't handle more).
- Compact at: how full (in percent) the conversation gets before the agent summarizes it, from 30 to 90%. Default 50%. Lower means summarizing more often but with a fresher view; higher means remembering more.
Your account, the kind of token and when it expires, and the Permissions it has. You manage it under Accounts; Sign out disconnects GitHub.
The fixed safety rules and the list of Blocked actions. See Failsafes.
Your subscription and when it expires. Check now checks the license again; Sign out on this device signs this computer out. From a month before it ends, Renew appears too: it buys the next year.
If your license expires, all autopilots pause and the app stays behind the license screen until you enter a valid key.
Without internet, Coodoo keeps working for 3 days after the last successful check. After that it locks, but your key stays on this computer: you see Connecting…, Coodoo tries again by itself and opens as soon as there is a connection. You don't have to enter your key again. When your laptop wakes from sleep, Coodoo first waits for the internet to be back before it checks the license.
Click the version number at the bottom for About Coodoo and updates.
Coodoo checks for a new version shortly after starting, then every half hour, and when you come back to the window after a while. To check right away, open About Coodoo and updates.
The update downloads in the background, on Windows and on macOS. Click Restart and update; a running autopilot is paused first, so no work gets lost. After the restart, continue with Resume.
Coodoo for macOS is signed and checked by Apple (notarized), so macOS opens it without a warning. Had a version from before 1.26.0? Install the new version yourself once from the release page; after that, updating happens by itself. If updating on the Mac fails once, you see Download again.
Coodoo also checks for new versions of the agents and lets you know. Click Update. You can't do this while the autopilot is running, so an agent doesn't change in the middle of its work.
At startup, Coodoo shows a splash screen with the steps it goes through (loading settings, checking the license, finding Claude Code and Codex, looking for updates…). It stays on screen for at least five seconds.
