Chat
The chat lets you ask questions about your project without the autopilot building anything. Handy for understanding something, brainstorming or working out a goal. Open the Chat window (on the right).
- Explain: "How is this project put together?", "Where is the login handled?"
- Think along: "Help me figure out the next step for this project"
- Check: "Which parts don't have tests yet?"
- Suggest goals: see below.
The chat can read your code but can't change anything. It's set to Read only. If you want something built, just say so: the chat turns it into a goal.
- Choose Claude or Codex at the top.
- Type your question in Ask something about your project… and press Enter (Shift + Enter for a new line).
- Taking too long? Click Stop.
- With New conversation you start over.
Each project has one conversation per agent. Coodoo remembers it, even after you quit.
When words don't get it across, show it.
- Click the camera button in the chat, or press the shortcut anywhere on your computer (by default ⌘⇧2 on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+2 on Windows).
- Your screen freezes. Drag a frame around what you want to show. Or choose Whole screen (Enter) or Pick a window at the top. Esc cancels.
- In the drawing window, show what you mean:
- Arrow, Frame and Highlighter to point at something;
- Pen to draw freely and Text for a short note;
- Number for numbered dots ①②③, so your message can say "at 2 the button must be blue";
- Blur to make a password, email address or other personal data unreadable before the image goes to the AI.
- Move (key V) to drag something you drew, or make it bigger or smaller by its corners. What you just drew can be dragged right away. Delete removes it, and picking another colour or thickness changes the selected shape. Undo (⌘Z or Ctrl+Z) works for everything.
- Click Add to chat. The image appears below the text box; type your question and send it. Claude and Codex really see the image.
When the chat turns it into a goal, the image goes along: the agents see it at every step of that goal. You can also Copy or Save it. You choose the shortcut under Settings → General → Screenshot.
Note: the first time, macOS asks for permission for Screen Recording. Coodoo explains where to give it. After that, Coodoo has to restart once.
You always make new goals here, in the chat. Say what you want or brainstorm about it. Once the idea is clear, the chat suggests a goal: a Proposed goal card with a title and a worked-out description, with requirements and when it's done.
Click Add as goal and the goal is in the queue, along with the screenshots you sent in the chat. The card then shows In the queue.
Tip: Feel free to ask: "Make this a goal". Or: "Split this into three smaller goals".
When a command has to run (such as npm run db:migrate), you see a card with Let Coodoo do this; see Commands.
