What you need
Coodoo does the work with two AI programs and GitHub. Below you'll find what needs to be on your computer and how to connect everything. You only have to do this once.
| What | What for | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code (the CLI) | One of the two AI developers | At least one of the two |
| Codex (the CLI) | The other AI developer | At least one of the two |
| A GitHub account | This is where your code lives | Yes |
| git | Version control, used by Coodoo | Yes |
| A Coodoo license | To use the app | Yes |
Tip: Coodoo also works with just one of the two agents. That agent then does all the roles. With both you get the most out of it: one builds, the other reviews.
The first time you start Coodoo, it asks for your License key. Paste it into the field and click Activate. No key yet? Click Buy a license: a license costs €19.99 per year (excl. VAT) and you pay in your browser. Without a valid license, the app stays blurred behind the license screen. You can find your license later under Settings → License.
After the license, Coodoo shows the AI disclaimer once. It says that AI can make mistakes, that you check what the team makes yourself, and that Coodoo and CentreBrain are not liable for those mistakes. Tick that you understand and click I agree. Without your agreement the team cannot start. You can read the text again under Settings → General → AI. If the text changes in substance, Coodoo asks for your agreement once more.
Coodoo looks for the programs in the usual places by itself. The dashboard shows right away whether they were found.
- Not found? Click Install on the dashboard, or Install Claude Code or Install Codex under Settings → Agents. Coodoo uses the official installer from Anthropic or OpenAI. You don't need an administrator password or a terminal. Afterwards Coodoo looks for the agent again by itself.
- Prefer to do it yourself? The command to paste into a terminal is shown under the button. Then click Search again.
- If the program is in an unusual place, fill in the Path to CLI under Settings → Agents → Advanced.
Click the person icon in the top right (Accounts).
- Click Sign in next to Claude. Your browser opens; sign in with your Claude subscription.
- If you see a code, paste it into Paste the code from the browser here.
- Do the same for Codex with your ChatGPT account.
You can sign out in the same place with Sign out.
Coodoo works with a fine-grained token from GitHub: a key that can only do what Coodoo needs.
- Go to Accounts and click Create token next to GitHub. GitHub opens with the right permissions already filled in.
- Choose which repositories the token applies to and create it.
- Copy the token, paste it into Paste the token here and click Connect.
The token is stored in your operating system's keychain, not in a file. The agents can never get to it. If the token is about to expire, you get a notice two weeks in advance; you replace it with Replace token.
About Administration: the token also gets Administration (read and write). Coodoo only uses it to put your flow's rules on GitHub and to switch Dependabot on; the failsafes allow nothing else. The token itself could delete a repository with it, so never share it. Coodoo keeps it encrypted and the agents can't reach it. If you don't use a flow and switch Dependabot on yourself on GitHub, you can leave this permission out.
About Pages: with Pages (read and write) Coodoo puts your project online as a website on GitHub Pages and updates it. If you don't use that, you can leave this permission out.
A fine-grained token covers one owner: your own account or one organization. If you also work on repositories of an organization (such as a company), give that organization its own token:
- Go to Accounts. Under GitHub, at Organizations, click Add organization.
- Fill in the organization's name and click Create token. GitHub opens with the organization as Resource owner and the permissions filled in. Choose All repositories.
- Paste the token and click Save. Coodoo checks that the token reaches that organization's repositories.
From then on Coodoo picks the right token per repository by itself: for cloning, pushing, pull requests, the dashboard and releases. These tokens are also stored encrypted on your computer and never show up in logs.
Open a project and go to the GitHub page, Settings tab. Under Access on GitHub, click Check. Coodoo tests whether it can read your repository, push, use pull requests and issues, and read Dependabot. If you see a checkmark everywhere, you're all set.
Continue with Your first project.
