Plugins and MCP

You can give the agents extra skills and tools. There are two ways to do that: plugins and MCP servers.

Plugins

A plugin is a small package of skills, commands or tools for an agent. For example, a plugin that teaches the agent to control a browser, or a fixed way of doing code reviews.

Open the Plugins panel (right).

  • Plugins apply per project and per agent. Pick Claude or Codex at the top.
  • In this project shows what's turned on.
  • Search under Search for a plugin, e.g. playwright or review and click Turn on for this project. Turn off for this project turns it off again.
  • Refresh catalog fetches the latest list.
  • With Add a marketplace you add your own source of plugins, as owner/repository or a git address.

If a marketplace needs to run a program during installation, Coodoo first asks for permission with Allow and install.

MCP servers

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard for connecting an agent to extra tools: a browser, a database, documentation. An MCP server provides those tools.

Open the MCP panel (right).

Included by default

Server What it does
defluff Helps the agents write clear text, without fluffy AI language. Uses uv; if uv is missing, you'll see Install uv
Context7 Gives the agents up-to-date documentation for libraries and frameworks, so they don't work from outdated knowledge. Your own CONTEXT7_API_KEY is optional

If you remove a default server, it stays gone.

Adding a server

Pick a ready-made one (Playwright to control a browser, Supabase for your database) or Your own MCP server. Fill in:

  • Type: Program on this computer or Online (address);
  • for a program: Program and Arguments;
  • for online: the Address;
  • Environment variables or Headers: you pick secret values from the Project vault;
  • Available to: Claude, Codex or both.

Click Test to see whether the server works and which tools it offers.

Tip: The Project map is also an MCP server, which Coodoo gives to the agents itself. You don't need to add it.

Plugin or MCP?

A plugin can also contain an MCP server. If you turn on a Context7 plugin, for example, you don't need the separate MCP server too. Use whatever is easiest; you don't need both.
