Always download the file that matches both your Minecraft version and your mod loader.
- Install the mod loader (Fabric, Forge or NeoForge) for your Minecraft version.
- On Fabric, also put Fabric API into the
modsfolder. - Put the Season System jar into the
modsfolder. - Start the game and open or create a world.
The config files are created in the config folder on the first start. See Configuration.
Season System must be installed on the server and on every client.
- The server runs the calendar, weather, temperature effects, snow and crop rules.
- The client shows the HUD, the Season Journal, the seasonal colours, particles, sounds and notifications.
Joining a Season System server without the mod on the client is not supported.
You can add Season System to a world you already play. The calendar starts in Spring, Day 1, Year 1. If you want to start in a different season, an operator can set the date with /season set (see Commands).
Replace the old jar with the new one. Your config files and the values you changed are kept.
Season System checks for new versions when a world or server starts and tells players in chat when an update is available. This can be turned off, see Configuration#update-checker.
When you remove Season System, the world goes back to vanilla behaviour. Snow layers and ice that were placed in winter stay where they are, because they are normal vanilla blocks.
