Taming
Two creatures can be tamed: the raccoon and the otter. Tamed animals work like vanilla wolves and cats: they follow you, teleport to you when you get too far away, and sit on command.
- Find a raccoon in a forest, taiga or swamp. Raccoons are shy, but they do not run from players that hold their food.
- Hold Sweet Berries, Glow Berries or an Apple and right-click an adult raccoon.
- Each try has a 1 in 4 chance. Smoke means it did not work yet, hearts mean the raccoon is now yours.
The chance can be changed with breeding.raccoonTameChance in the Configuration. A value of 1 tames on the first try, higher values make it harder.
Two tamed raccoons have litters of 1 to 3 babies, and the babies are tamed and yours from the start.
- Find an otter at a river or swamp.
- Right-click it with any fish (cod, salmon, tropical fish or pufferfish, raw or cooked).
- Each try has a 1 in 3 chance.
Two tamed otters can breed with fish, and their pup belongs to you.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sneak + right-click with an empty hand | sit down / stand up |
| Right-click with its food | makes it stand up and puts it in love mode for breeding |
| Walk away | it follows you and teleports to you when it falls far behind |
Only the owner can make a pet sit. Tamed animals never despawn.
The other creatures cannot be tamed. With Loyal Companions installed, deer, ducks, owls, raccoons and otters can also be used as companions.
