EuphoniX

An area code 604 cadre of [Amiga]-based, rave-inspired 4-channel .MOD-trackers who eventually evolved into a live PA act (which was first called Urban Shade, then Drop Modulation), EuphoniX (from the Greek euphonics, meaning pleasant sounds) consisted of Sentience and Marauder (who carried on working together through to the live performance incarnation) as well as JaZz and Fingers. Their homebase (or WHQ if you will) was the [Wizard On-Line] BBS that evolved into the Planet-D MUD, but they also were represented locally on Depeche Node, Cyber Dome, Corrosion and Tekna BBSes, in addition to Voi's [Transient Lunacy]. There was a circle of Amiga local fellow travellers who created alongside them including not only [Voi] but Lofwyr, the band Tinmen, and superfan David Riley who drew them a number of distinctive ASCII logos.

Sentience began releasing .MODs as early as 1991, and by 1992 tracks were being released officially branded as EuphoniX productions, including ones by Marauder and fingers. JaZz got on board in 1993, a year in which after they achieved some global distribution among the Amiga community through AmiNet they attempted to take the next step and make studio recordings on pro gear and do live performances, a goal whose route to achievement is not necessarily obvious from an Amiga .MOD-tracking starting point. In Sept '93 they performed at the Commodore Ballroom in support of the Synaesthesia compilation of Vancouver techno they appeared on, and they also appeared on MuchWest TV.

From '96-97 they released demo cassettes, including -8-, A Little Night Music, and Now More Than Ever, which charted on local campus radio, before transitioning into party sounds you only got to enjoy hearing if you came out to the function. And, of course, over the course of the Mist Classic period we also served as an outlet for some compositions by EuphoniX members, once they stopped dropping .MODs in favour of audiotapes.

In 2015 we (wearing our New Media Group hat) released a EuphoniX "collected works".
