WTF4
In the wake of the previous year's award-winning ACiD Trip ANSI art scroller (the world's largest up to that point), Blocktronics decided to do it again in 2014 and cooked up the even-larger WTF4 "mega"joint in networked PabloDraw sessions, drawn by 24 artists in ten different countries over a period of some 45 days and ultimately totaling some 4636 lines, "about the size of a seven story building." When they entered it into the ANSI compo at the [Evoke] demoparty, the hosts had no choice but to award it first place. As of press time, its record for the longest ANSI piece ever made still stands. It was included in an unthemed 2014 Blocktronics artpack by the same name, "WTF4", combining the old Internet acronym [WTF] with the F4 function key typically used to draw a whole block character in most ANSI art editors.
Due to its extraordinary proportions, viewing the WTF4 megajoint is not a trivial undertaking, but if you have a spare 12 minutes or so it can be watched unfurling on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMncm4V_AV4 , featuring music by ensnare. Footage from the WTF4 megajoint was featured the year after its release in Keith Apicary (Nathan Barnatt)'s "Can't Go Home" video featuring w/ Mick Foley and Andrew W.K.
WTF4's credited contributors included: ungennant, mattmatthew, the creep fever, filth, RaDMaN, Ant, Cyonx, delicious, misfit, reset survivor, Trip, argon, ironghost, smoke, avenging angel, enzO , mypal gOO, ober, zeusII, big yellow man, otium, maze, irokos, and bw.
