Flashparty
Flashparty is an Argentinian [demoparty] series that has been taking place in Buenos Aires on-again, off-again since 1998 (we'll put it this way: missing three years between 1998 and 2007, and every year since 2018, but with a whopping 11 years off in the middle there).
The South American computer art scene (epitomized by, eg., our colleagues in HPM) is culturally on a different wavelength from European demoparties, which can often feel like stumbling into the midst of 30+ years of cliques and running jokes that are starkly indifferent to your ability to understand or make sense of what's going on. Consequently, when possible we in the Mistigris computer arts collective like to field entries to compos at Flashparty, because it often feels more welcoming, receptive and interested in what we have to offer (especially in the [teletext] sector, which many demoparties never became interested in) and less like we're crashing someone else's party by having the audacity to participate. Happily, these entries are often well received!
