Fuel
Established in late 1994, this crew of European computer artists initially had a split focus on tracker music ("Fuel" was initially an acronym for "FoR UnLiMiTeD ELeCtRoNiC LoUdNeSs"), PPEs (BBS mods, or modifications), and ANSI art. The ANSI division made its first release in 1995 as an introductory solo pack by its chief proponent The Knight, who led that branch into prominence as an emerging European artscene force. After a year it was designated the European branch of iCE Advertisements, which helped to direct a lot of top-level ANSI and hirez talent (their VGA division led at one point by [Night Daemon]) from outside North America to their receiving bay. They released regularly up to early 1998, at which point everything abruptly stopped (as it did for many of us around that point!) until 2017, when TK rounded up some of his old colleagues (notably Burps, Propane, Necrofiliac and Zeus II) and dropped back into the artscene for a solid two years of splashy revival. Several Fuel revival regulars kept working together in continuity during the Lazarus Blocks revival that followed a year after the Fuel revival wrapped.
