Spawn

Noseless undead black soldier with the glowing chains and the prehensile cape, creation of Calgary-born artist [Todd McFarlane]. Spawn was the breakout star of the early [Image Comics] lineup and consequently due to the coincidental timing of his launch wound up the all-time single most frequently-drawn subject of underground ANSI art. The particulars of the character and his media spin-offs are largely immaterial to his weird prominence in the artscene, but it is worth noting that technically, the Spawn comic currently holds the record (taken from Dave Sim's [Cerebus] in 2019) for the longest-running creator-owned comic book series.
