Preferences

Preferences hold every setting that is not specific to one project — updates, camera feel, keybinds, theme and the Blender link. Most changes apply immediately, so it is a reasonable place to look first when something in the editor feels off (camera too sensitive, wrong theme, files not auto-updating).

Edit ▸ Preferences… (also Help ▸ Preferences…, or the gear in the title bar, Ctrl+,) opens the settings window. Everything applies live while the window is open; Cancel puts it back.

General

  • Projects folder — where new projects are created.
  • Audio conversion (WAV to WEM) — the Wwise console and project used to convert replacement audio for the Audio editor.
  • Viewport defaults — Cull backfaces by default: respect each material's culling flag when content loads. The renderer is chosen in the viewport's View menu instead (Direct3D 11 unless you switch to OpenGL there) and remembered between sessions.
  • Updates — what happens when a newer release is found at startup: Ask me (show the changelog, you decide), Install automatically, or Manual (only open the download page). An MSI install sets the initial choice from its options page; the choice made here wins over it. See Getting Started. The same section has Keep hash tables and meta classes up to date (on by default): at startup the editor checks for a newer Mimir hash-table release (or changed CommunityDragon lists) and a newer meta-class database, and re-resolves the open project when anything changed — one request each when nothing did. Turn it off and Tools ▸ Hashes & Names ▸ Sync is what it always was, on demand only.
  • Auto-save — write mesh transforms and material edits to the project automatically once editing goes quiet for a set number of seconds, instead of waiting for File ▸ Save Project. Off by default.

Camera

Sensitivity and inversion for orbit, pan and zoom, and the movement speed.

Controls

The viewport keybinds, each capturable by clicking the row and pressing the new key, and the fixed shortcuts for reference.

Theme

  • Editor theme — eight palettes: Crimson (the default), Kalista, Violet, Midnight, Forest, Amber, Rose and Slate. A palette card applies as you click it.
  • Accent colour — a colour of your own on top of any palette, or Palette default to hand it back.
  • Background picture — a picture behind the whole editor, in every window: .png, .jpg, .bmp, .webp, or an animated .gif, which plays in every window (decoded once, shared). Set its opacity, a glass slider that lets the panels over it show it through, and fill / fit / stretch / tile. Clear removes it. Popups and menus stay opaque so they remain readable over the 3D view.

Preview

  • Model preview backdrop — the default backdrop for the character preview window.
  • Map packs — the downloadable legacy map packs the preview can use as a backdrop, and where they live.

Blender

Lists every Blender version on this PC and installs the ReyEngine Bridge add-on into it. See Blender Link.
