Farming and Dungeons
Use the Collection source text, creature tooltip, or Pet locations map toggle to find eligible creatures. The toggle works on full and half-size maps. Paws give approximate locations, not live spawn tracking. Matching names, creature variants, and source notes matter: any random beast does not roll every possible pet.
Each eligible farmable kill has a 5% base pet-drop chance. Tracker slightly increases the solo chance. In a party, the shared base roll remains 5%: nearby compatible addon users who observe the eligible kill and have stable room can receive their own pet. Recipients roll rarity separately. This shared farming system does not apply to raids.
The roll message is out of 10,000; 500 or less wins at the base rate. A near miss does not improve the next attempt. Turn messages on or off with /cfpets rolls on and /cfpets rolls off. Many kills without a drop can happen naturally.
The School of Fish source is a creature NPC, not a fishing pool. Hunter trap summons are not intended farming sources. The ordinary directory omits secret companions.
| Creature difficulty relative to your character | Base pet XP |
|---|---|
| Gray | None |
| Green | 1 |
| Yellow | 2–3 |
| Orange | 3–4 |
| Red | 4–5 |
Known elites and rare elites add 1 XP. The shared budget is 12 base kill XP per minute, with applicable progression bonuses handled afterward. This uses eligible kills, not your character receiving XP, so a level-capped character can still train pets. Your pet must be below its unlocked level cap. /cfpets xp explains the last result.
When a confirmed dungeon/instance party kill has hidden details, the fallback is 1 XP within that budget. Hidden identity cannot reliably identify a specific farmable pet, and hidden level cannot establish its normal difficulty bonus.
Eligible non-gray creature kills have a 3% base equipment chance. The enemy's level determines ordinary gear quality. In a five-player dungeon only, an unreadable level can use your character's level; readable gray enemies remain excluded.
Normal eligible enemies can give 0–1 token; elites can give 0–2. Herbs, coin pouches, and unopened equipment crates can also drop. Equipment crates have a separate 1% chance on eligible kills, so they do not replace normal gear drops. The XP-per-minute budget does not turn off ordinary loot rolls.
Supported dungeon boss completions can award tokens and an adoption crate; supported raid bosses have their own reward opportunities. The addon needs a readable, supported boss or encounter event. Reward cooldowns prevent repeatedly collecting the same boss reward in a short period and are separate from the game's lockout schedule.
Unopened crates appear in your addon equipment bag, not the WoW bag. Some full-bag tower/boss rewards wait for you to claim them; ordinary world drops are not an unlimited overflow mailbox. Keep stable and bag room before farming.
Confirmed enemy-player kills also count toward relevant achievements and can restore your active living pet by 10% health, 5 food, and 10 energy, capped at its maximums. Repeated kills of the same opponent have a cooldown. This is a reward for character PvP; pet-versus-pet PvP is not currently available.
