Inspect and Trading
Open Inspect and use Inspect target, or click a known player's portrait in the bottom strip. Hover a portrait for its name; the strip scrolls horizontally when necessary. You do not need to keep targeting someone already available in the list.
The four controls—Guild, Party, Raid, World—filter the people shown. Nearby World discovery checks visible friendly players through targets, nameplates, and mouseover. It only adds confirmed addon responses. It does not identify every user anywhere in the zone.
Both users need sharing enabled and compatible versions. Sharing is on by default and can be turned off. Current clients can show the full living stable, selected pet's stat totals, and abilities. An older cached snapshot can lag behind a change; select the player again to refresh. “Not shared” is missing information, not a stat value of zero.
Select the recipient in Inspect and press Trade, or use the target-based trade control. Your stable and bag appear beside the offer. Right-click an eligible asset to add it; right-click an offered slot to remove it. Hover before confirming.
Each side can offer up to nine mixed assets: living inactive pets, unequipped equipment, and unopened eligible crates or pouches. Remove a pet's worn gear before offering it. Dead pets, active pets, and free recovery pets are not tradeable. The recipient needs room and must be able to own the pet's level.
- Request the trade from the selected player.
- The recipient gets a chat notice and a flashing pending trade alert in the mini. Open Inspect/Trade and join.
- Review both complete offers. An empty return offer is fine for a gift.
- Wait the three-second review countdown, then both players confirm.
Changing the offer resets confirmation and the countdown. Assets offered in an active exchange are held out of normal use until delivery or safe cancellation. Once an exchange has committed, it must finish delivery rather than be cancelled.
The trade needs a known recipient, compatible addons, and working in-game addon messaging. Being in the same party is not itself enough to complete it, and a nearby target is only one way to choose the recipient. Both players must be online and reachable; realm restrictions or messaging lockdown can block it.
If interrupted, keep the saved data, update both players, reopen Trade, and use Retry delivery. Do not restore an old save to clear a pending exchange. Trading away an individual pet leaves its collection discovery intact.
