Math and study tools

Work with equations and study materials. Beta 4 has quick math, math blocks, a grapher, flashcards, and study tools. Everything except start-up is untested by hand, so check the test checklist before you rely on a feature.

Math

Feature Status
Quick math Built. Type an expression such as 2.5*9.81= and press Space to add the result. One Ctrl+Z removes it.
Math blocks Built. LaTeX equations as blocks or inline in text.
Equation editing Built. Edit equations with a pen or keyboard.
Function grapher Built. A Desmos-style graph with zoom and pan that exports as vector graphics.
Variables and units Built. Write rent = 1,200, then rent * 12 =, and the result updates. Units work too, as in 5 mi in km =.
Accessible math Built. Equations carry MathML so screen readers can read them aloud, in braille, or step through term by term. Copy as MathML or LaTeX.
Handwritten math Built. Handwriting becomes editable equations: fractions, roots, integrals, matrices, and Greek letters.
Mermaid diagrams Built. Create flowcharts, sequences, class diagrams, and more in Mermaid format.
Mind maps Built. Create and edit mind maps.

The grapher, quick math, and smart tables use the same calculation engine, so results match everywhere. Math looks the same on screen and in PDF.

Study tools

Feature What it does Phase
Flashcards and quizzes Blocks that you can place in any page 10
Card types Question and answer, fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, and image occlusion, which hides part of a diagram 10
Make cards from notes Build cards by hand, or generate them from a page, a section, or a transcript 10
Inline flashcards Type a question, ::, and an answer on one line to make a card. Double braces hide words as a blank. 10
Spaced repetition A schedule shows which cards are due. Decks export to Anki and CSV. 10
Exam dates for decks Set a date, and the plan spreads new and due cards so you see them all in time. There are no streaks or scores. 10
Deck import Bring in Anki packages, CSV, and text files, with a report of what was skipped 10
Study tape Draw tape over ink, text, or an image to hide it, then tap to reveal it. Tape hides content on screen only, and isn't a lock. 10

Generating cards from your notes uses on-device intelligence, which stays off until you turn it on.
