OpenNote is built in phases. Each phase adds a small set of features and ends with an exit gate: tests and measurements that must pass before the next phase counts as done. The plan has no dates on purpose. The gates decide when to move on.
Beta 4 is now available for testing. It integrates Phases 2 to 4 from the main branch, plus Phases 5 to 12 built and ready. A public beta opens in Phase 13, and version 1.0.0 ships in Phase 14.
Phases 0 to 4 are done. Phases 5 to 12 are built and in beta testing. Phases 13 to 14 are built but waiting on the beta period, code signing, and the update key. That work lives on separate branches.

These come next, in rough order:
- Sync, folder-based first, then an optional self-hosted server.
- macOS and Linux builds.
- Android and iOS apps that use the compact layout.
- PDF annotation, flashcards from notes, and citation support.
- Meeting mode with speaker labels.
- Real-time collaboration.
- Development updates lists what changed and when.
- Development process explains how phases, branches, and merges work.
- The development plan holds every phase's build list, tests, and exit gate.
- The feature specification names the phase that builds each feature.
