Platform Notes
Polygluttony is the same app everywhere. What differs is mostly the first launch, because the builds aren't signed with a paid developer certificate.
- Supported: Windows 10 and 11, x64.
-
Installing: run
Polygluttony-vX.Y.Z-windows.exe. It installs for your user only, so no admin rights are needed. - SmartScreen: Windows may warn that the app is unrecognised. Choose More info → Run anyway. This happens once.
- WebView2: Polygluttony draws its window with Microsoft's WebView2, which Windows 10 and 11 normally already have. If yours doesn't, the installer downloads it, so stay online during the install.
-
Supported: Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later). There's no build for Intel Macs.
-
Installing: unzip
Polygluttony-vX.Y.Z-macos.zipand drag Polygluttony into Applications. -
First launch: macOS blocks it because it isn't notarized by Apple.
- Try to open Polygluttony once and dismiss the warning.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to the bottom.
- Click Open Anyway next to the message about Polygluttony.
- Open it again and confirm.
Right-click → Open no longer gets around this on recent macOS. After installing a new version you may have to do it again.
-
Supported: x86_64. The AppImage runs on most distributions; it's built on Ubuntu 22.04, so distributions older than that may not run it.
-
Running it:
chmod +x Polygluttony-*.AppImage ./Polygluttony-*.AppImage
-
If the AppImage won't start: most distributions can run AppImages out of the box. If yours can't, install FUSE 2 (the package is usually called
libfuse2orfuse2). -
NVIDIA on Wayland: some NVIDIA drivers crash WebKit apps with
Error 71 (Protocol error). Polygluttony sets__NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1for itself to avoid this. If you've set that variable yourself, your value wins.
- The app checks for nothing in the background: no update checks, no telemetry. New versions are on the releases page. See Privacy & your data.
- The version you're running is shown at the bottom right of the window (
3.0.0, for example). - Keyboard shortcuts use Ctrl on Windows and Linux and Cmd on macOS. The Help page lists them.
- When a run ends while Polygluttony isn't the active window, it sends a desktop notification. It asks for permission once, the first time; if you say no, it doesn't ask again. You can change that in your system's notification settings.
