Buttons and Levers
Secret Blocks has three disguised switches and one that hides in plain sight:
- the Secret Button and Secret Stone Button look like the wall around them;
- the Secret Lever looks like the wall around it too;
- the Torch Lever looks like an ordinary torch.
The Secret Button, Secret Stone Button and Secret Lever are full blocks that take the look of the block you place them against. See How disguises work.

A wooden button hidden inside a full block. Press it and it sends a short pulse, then pops back out on its own.
Shapeless, on a crafting table or in your inventory grid (see Crafting):
| Ingredients | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 Dummy Block + 1 wooden button (any wood) | 1 Secret Button |
- Place it against a wall, floor or ceiling block. It copies the look of the block you clicked.
- Right-click it to press it. It stays pressed for 1.5 seconds (30 ticks), then releases.
- An arrow that hits it presses it, as with a vanilla wooden button.
- While pressed it gives a signal of 15 on every side (weak power), so a lamp, piston or door right next to it turns on.
- It also gives strong power into the block it is attached to. Anything next to that block turns on too.
- Like a vanilla button, it does not pass redstone power through itself: a repeater pointing into it does not power the blocks around it.
- It makes the wooden button click when pressed and released.
- It is attached to the block you placed it against. Break that block and the button drops.
- A piston breaks it and it drops as an item, as a piston does to a vanilla button.
- It is a full, solid block: you bump into it and can stand on it, and its outline is a full cube. A vanilla button is small and you walk through it.
- It looks like its disguise, not like a button.
- It sounds, mines and stands up to explosions like the block it looks like, not like a button, and it always drops itself when mined. See How disguises work.
The stone version of the Secret Button.
| Ingredients | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 Dummy Block + 1 stone button or polished blackstone button | 1 Secret Stone Button |
A polished blackstone button is a stone button with another look: it stays pressed as long and arrows do not press it either, so it makes the same secret button.
- Works like the Secret Button, with these changes:
- it stays pressed for 1 second (20 ticks);
- arrows do not press it;
- it makes the stone button click.
- The same as for the Secret Button: a full block you can stand on, disguised, and it sounds and mines like its disguise.
A lever hidden inside a full block. Each use flips it on or off.
| Ingredients | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 Dummy Block + 1 lever | 1 Secret Lever |
- Place it against a wall, floor or ceiling block. It copies the look of the block you clicked.
- Right-click it to switch it on. Right-click again to switch it off. Nothing on the outside moves, so only the lit lamps and opened doors show which way it is set.
- While on, it gives a signal of 15 on every side (weak power), so a lamp, piston or door right next to it turns on.
- It also gives strong power into the block it is attached to. Anything next to that block turns on too.
- Like a vanilla lever, it does not pass redstone power through itself: a repeater pointing into it does not power the blocks around it.
- It makes the lever click when switched.
- It is attached to the block you placed it against. Break that block and the lever drops.
- A piston breaks it and it drops as an item, as a piston does to a vanilla lever.
- It is a full, solid block: you bump into it and can stand on it, and its outline is a full cube. A vanilla lever is small and you walk through it.
- It looks like its disguise, not like a lever. The handle does not show, on or off.
- It sounds, mines and stands up to explosions like the block it looks like, not like a lever, and it always drops itself when mined. See How disguises work.
A torch that is secretly a lever. It is not disguised: it looks exactly like a vanilla torch, with the same model, flame and light. Use it and it switches redstone like a lever.
| Ingredients | Result |
|---|---|
| 1 torch + 1 lever | 1 Torch Lever |
- Place it like a torch: on top of a block, or on the side of a wall. One item places both kinds.
- Right-click it to switch it on. Right-click again to switch it off.
- When on, the torch tilts:
- on a floor, it leans away from where you stood when you placed it;
- on a wall, it leans further out from the wall than a normal wall torch.
- The flame moves to the tip of the tilted torch. Off, it stands like any other torch.
- While on, it gives a signal of 15 on every side (weak power), so a lamp, piston or door right next to it turns on.
- It also gives strong power into the block it stands on or hangs on. Anything next to that block turns on too.
- It makes the lever click when switched.
- It gives light level 14, on and off, like a torch.
- It breaks instantly, like a torch.
- It drops as an item when the block it stands on or hangs on is removed, when water flows over it, or when a piston pushes it, like a torch.
- Placed on top of a wall, it raises the wall's post under it, like a torch.
- Breaking it while it is on turns its signal off.
- It tilts when on. Neither a torch nor a lever does that.
- Unlike a lever, it shows no red redstone sparks when on. Only the tilt gives it away.
- Unlike a torch, it is a redstone power source, so redstone dust next to it bends toward it. A plain torch does not cause that.
- Its signal is a lever's: the same strength and the same strong power into its support.
- Everything else is a torch's: light, breaking, popping off, and the sounds of placing and breaking it.
- Redstone dust next to any of these switches connects to it, just as it connects to a vanilla button or lever. Run your wiring behind walls or under floors, or use Secret Redstone, so the dust does not point at your hidden switch.
- The Builder's Goggles show the Secret Button, Secret Stone Button and Secret Lever as the vanilla block inside. The Torch Lever looks the same through them.
- The Camouflage Wand turns a vanilla button or lever into its secret version and back. It does not work on the Torch Lever.
