Three secret blocks watch the world and send a redstone signal: the Secret Observer, the Secret Daylight Detector and the Secret Sculk Sensor. Each is a full block that wears a disguise on every face, so it blends into the wall or floor around it. See How disguises work for how a block picks its disguise.

A vanilla observer hidden in a full disguised block.

| Observer | 1 |
- When the block in front of its face changes, it sends one short pulse (2 game ticks) out of its back.
- It faces like a vanilla observer placed the same way: its face points where you look, so its output points back at you.
- Every face shows the disguise, so you cannot see which way it faces. The Builder's Goggles show it as a vanilla observer.
- Changing a disguise does not set it off. This counts both its own disguise and the disguise of the block it watches.
- Pistons push and pull it like a vanilla observer, and its disguise moves with it. Flying machines that move observers work with it.
- Like a vanilla observer, it does not pass redstone power through itself.
- It is drawn as its disguise on every side, with no face, arrow or red dot.
- It sounds, mines and stands up to explosions like its disguise, and it always drops itself when mined, whatever the tool. A vanilla observer drops nothing without a pickaxe. See How disguises work.
A daylight detector hidden in a full disguised block, with a day mode and a night (inverted) mode.
Shapeless, makes 1. See Crafting.
| Ingredient | Count |
|---|---|
| Dummy Block | 1 |
| Daylight detector | 1 |
- In day mode its signal follows daylight, like a vanilla detector: 15 at noon under a clear sky, 12 at noon in rain, 0 at midnight.
- In night mode the signal is turned around: 0 at noon, 11 at midnight.
- Around sunrise and sunset it gives the same in-between values as a vanilla detector.
- It updates once a second.
- Use it (right-click) to switch between day and night mode. The signal changes at once.
- You can only switch it where you may build, so adventure-mode players cannot.
- The disguise hides which mode it is in. The Builder's Goggles show it as a vanilla detector in its current mode.
- It reads the brightest sky light of the six spaces around it. One face open to the sky is enough, so it works set into a wall or a floor.
- Buried with no face open to the sky, it reads darkness: 0 in day mode, 15 in night mode.
- It gives its signal on every side as weak power. Strong power does not pass through it.
- It does not update on its own in the Nether or the End, like a vanilla detector.
- Pistons cannot move it, like a vanilla detector.
- It is a full block, not a thin slab.
- It reads the brightest space around it instead of its own space. Under an overhang, where light reaches it only from the side, it can read one level higher than a vanilla detector in the same spot.
- It sounds, mines and stands up to explosions like its disguise, not like a daylight detector.
A vanilla sculk sensor hidden in a full disguised block.
Shapeless, makes 1. See Crafting.
| Ingredient | Count |
|---|---|
| Dummy Block | 1 |
| Sculk sensor | 1 |
A sculk sensor only drops when mined with Silk Touch, so you need Silk Touch to collect one for this recipe.
- It hears vibrations within 8 blocks, like a vanilla sculk sensor: blocks placed or broken, steps, landing projectiles, chests opening and so on.
- Wool between it and the vibration blocks the sound, as with a vanilla sensor.
- The closer the vibration, the stronger the signal: up to 15 right beside it, down to 1 at the edge of its range.
- While it is active, a comparator behind it reads the frequency of the vibration it heard (1 to 15), as with a vanilla sensor.
- After a vibration it stays active for 40 game ticks (2 seconds), then rests for 1 tick before it can hear again. Vibrations while it is active are ignored.
- Walking onto it sets it off at full strength (15). A warden does not set it off.
- It hears a Secret Chest open and close, like any chest.
- It gives off no light, so it cannot be found in the dark (a vanilla sensor gives light level 1).
- Pistons cannot move it, like a vanilla sensor.
- The vibration particle still flies to it when it hears something.
- It makes the vanilla sensor's click when it goes off.
- It is a full block. You see the disguise, not the tendrils, and you can stand on it.
- It shows no particles from its sides while it is active.
- It never holds water. Placed in water it stays dry, and a bucket cannot fill it.
- Mined, it always drops itself, with any tool and without Silk Touch. It gives no experience.
- It sounds, mines and stands up to explosions like its disguise, not like a sculk sensor.
