Home Assistant Integration

BGAdaptor can show up automatically in Home Assistant as a device, giving you:

  • Buttons: Play, Next, Previous, Stop, Standby
  • A sensor for the current track number (CD only)
  • A sensor for the current playback state (playing/stopped/etc., as text)
  • A binary "is playing" sensor — handy for automations (e.g. dim the lights when the record starts)

Setting it up

  1. On the Control page, press show Settings and go to the Home Assistant section. Press Configure MQTT. A new page opens.
  2. Enter your MQTT broker's IP address, and a username/password if your broker requires one.
  3. Save. The adaptor restarts and should appear as a new device in Home Assistant shortly after (via MQTT auto-discovery — no manual entity setup needed on the Home Assistant side). Tip: search for BGAdaptor in your Devices.

Requirements

  • You need an MQTT broker already running and connected to Home Assistant (e.g. the Mosquitto add-on). BGAdaptor doesn't provide one itself.
