flokin-md

flokin-md is a local-first desktop application that treats a folder of Markdown files as a queryable database. It opens an existing folder directly, with no import step and no proprietary vault format, and keeps the Markdown files on disk as the source of truth throughout.

Radar Assessment

The core idea is to expose structure that already exists in Markdown frontmatter without asking the user to migrate anywhere. Frontmatter fields become columns in a data grid, so a folder of project notes can be browsed and compared like a spreadsheet. A SQL explorer projects the same files into a disposable local SQLite database for ad hoc querying, and a relations graph surfaces the links between documents. A database health check flags invalid YAML, inconsistent properties, and broken relations across the collection, and bulk edits let a user change a property across many files at once with a review step before anything is written.

Because nothing leaves the folder and the files remain ordinary Markdown, the tool stays compatible with whatever else already touches those files -- Git, VS Code, Obsidian, or an AI coding agent reading the same project's context files.

flokin-md sits in Assess. It is explicitly pre-release software, with the project itself warning that important work should stay backed up or under version control while testing. It has a small following relative to comparable tools (36 stars) and no first-person production use to draw on for a Trial placement.
