Beholderkin Family
Hovering, eye-stalked floaters that hang just above the ground and strike from range as readily as up close. This page covers the currently documented members; more beholderkin variants exist in GMM and will be added here over time.
Source: Dungeons & Dragons (Beholder)
HP: 36 | Attack: 8 | Armor: 3 | Speed: slow
A floating, eye-stalked horror that hovers over the ground and picks fights from a distance as often as up close.
A Beholder rarely shows up by itself, and it doesn't just attack you directly — it can bind nearby monsters into permanent servants and, on rare occasions, call in reinforcements of its own.
- Spellcasting — charges and fires ranged attacks in addition to its bite.
- Enthrallment — charges a slow beam that can permanently bind a nearby eligible monster as its thrall, building up a small entourage over time (capped).
- Summons minions — rarely calls in reinforcements, and on rare occasions can even summon a Daemon.
- Escorted spawns — often spawns already accompanied by a smaller Gazer or two.
- Long sight range — notices and pursues targets from much farther away than most monsters.
A rare, dangerous find anywhere in the Overworld — very occasionally in the Nether's wastes too.
Source: Dungeons & Dragons (Death Tyrant)
HP: 36 | Attack: 8 | Armor: 3 | Speed: slow
The Beholder's undead cousin — same floating, eye-stalked shape, but the eye stalks answer to nothing living anymore.
Unlike a living Beholder, a Death Tyrant doesn't bother binding thralls — it doesn't need to. Its threat is purely offensive: reliable paralyzing spellfire at range, an undead escort it can conjure on the spot, and, on rare occasions, a Daemon reinforcement.
- Paralyzing spellcasting — reliably charges and fires a paralysis bolt, rather than a Beholder's varied mix of spells.
- Summons undead minions — conjures reinforcements skewed toward zombies, husks, skeletons, and (most often) Skeleton Warriors, with a rare chance to summon a Daemon instead.
- Long sight range — notices and pursues targets from much farther away than most monsters.
Just as rare as the Beholder — anywhere in the Overworld, and very occasionally in the Nether's wastes.

HP: 18 | Attack: 6 | Armor: 3 | Speed: slow
A smaller, lesser cousin of the Beholder — the same eye-stalked floating shape, scaled down.
Don't let the smaller frame fool you — it still charges and fires ranged spells (usually a paralyzing bolt, occasionally a harsher blast) and can call in a little backup of its own. It's often found already escorting a Beholder rather than alone.
- Spellcasting — charges and fires ranged attacks in addition to its bite, weighted heavily toward a paralyzing bolt.
- Summons minions — occasionally calls in reinforcements, skewed toward Headless, Orcs, zombies, and the odd Vex.
- Long sight range — notices and pursues targets from much farther away than most monsters.
A common find anywhere in the Overworld — very occasionally in the Nether's wastes too.
Source: Dungeons & Dragons (Spectator)
HP: 16 | Attack: 4 | Armor: 3 | Speed: slow
The smallest of the beholderkin — a lesser eye-tyrant that darts in to strike rather than hanging back.
Where its bigger relatives drift and bite, a Spectator winds up and hurls itself across the gap in a fast charging rush, slamming into you before pulling back to line up the next one. It also charges and fires a paralyzing spell between charges, so closing the distance doesn't necessarily make it safer.
- Charge attack — rushes across the gap to slam into its target, then peels off to reset — its signature move, unlike the other beholderkin.
- Spellcasting — charges and fires a paralyzing bolt in addition to its bite.
Common anywhere in the Overworld — occasionally in the Nether's wastes too.
