Mimic Family
Ambush "monsters" disguised as ordinary loot containers — perfectly still and silent until something interacts with them. Both documented members share the same underlying disguise mechanic and stat block; only the container skin differs.

An ordinary-looking barrel — until it isn't. Sits perfectly still and silent, indistinguishable from real storage, right up until something touches it.
Hit it, or try to open it like a real container, and it springs to life instantly and bites — hard. There's no early tell before that first strike; the only clue is context (a lone barrel somewhere a little too convenient).
- Perfect disguise — completely motionless and silent while dormant; plays ordinary barrel/chest sounds, not a monster's.
- Instant reveal — springs to life the moment it's struck or interacted with, no delay.
- Heavy bite — hits hard once revealed; this is not a fight to stumble into unprepared.
Village storerooms, ship cargo holds, cellars, and pantries — always hand-placed as a loot-room ambush, never a wild wandering monster.

A plain, unremarkable chest — the kind you'd walk past without a second look. That's exactly the point.
Try to loot it, or land a hit on it, and it stops pretending immediately — no warning creak, no telegraphed wind-up, just an instant lunge and a bite that hurts. Same trick as its barrel-skinned cousin, wearing a more common disguise.
