PR Summary

Period: 2026-04-26 to 2026-05-09 (Iteration 56) | Total PRs: 77 (49 from Xe2/Xe3/Xe3P, 28 from Xe4) | Lines changed: +93,927 / -32,763

Triton XPU BE (Xe2/Xe3/Xe3P) (34 PRs, +38,258 / -6,810)

The team built out the new 2D-block-load lowering stack end-to-end: new intermediate ops, per-variant lowering conversions, and a replacement pipeline pass that unifies the descriptor-load, tensor-of-pointers, and block-pointer paths. Alongside this, new analyses (spatial reuse, cache-control annotation) and widened vectorization (up to 256-bit Xe3P store/load) landed to improve memory throughput. Six upstream synchronizations were completed with a 98.99–99.26% test pass rate.

Key accomplishments:

  • Unified the 2D block-load code path into a single pipeline pass that handles descriptor loads, tensor-of-pointers, and block pointers through one set of intermediate ops
  • Widened elementwise load/store vectorization to 256 bits on Xe3P, lifting sustained memory bandwidth for bandwidth-bound kernels
  • Landed a new Spatial Reuse analysis that complements the existing temporal reuse facade, giving future optimization passes a single place to query reuse information
  • Fixed a vLLM startup segfault by hardening Level Zero initialization with clearer, debuggable error paths instead of hard crashes
  • Maintained ongoing alignment with the upstream Triton compiler across six merges

Memory Access & Lowering

New intermediate ops (ttig.2d_block_load, ttig.2d_block_load_from_ptr, ttig.extract_desc) and per-variant conversion patterns that together form a reusable, unified 2D-block-load lowering stack.

Analysis & Correctness

Bug fixes and analysis hardening across the lowering stack — from runtime descriptor checks to block-pointer boundary handling.

Compiler Pipeline

Pipeline maintenance: supporting utilities moved into shared headers, small pass refactors, and dialect plumbing.

Upstream Alignment

6 upstream merges from OpenAI Triton (commits 3123400, 88e8e52, 9f34338, e570a63, ef05530, ef05530) — pass rate 98.99–99.26%.

Test & CI Reliability

CI suite maintenance, benchmark infrastructure, and skip-list management.
