Plain Terminal Mode

Use SSH Pilot more like a normal terminal: open a session, then get the connection list out of the way so the terminal fills the window.

Hide the sidebar right now

  1. Open a terminal tab
  2. Press F9 (Cmd+B on macOS), or click the sidebar toggle in the header bar
  3. Press the same again when you need the connection list back

That only affects the current session until you change it again.

Hide or shrink the sidebar automatically

  1. Open Settings (Ctrl+, / Cmd+,)
  2. Go to Interface
  3. Under Sidebar behavior, set When a Terminal Opens to:
    • Hide Sidebar — full-width terminal after any session opens (including local terminals)
    • Minimize to Icons — keep a thin icon strip instead of hiding completely
  4. Optional: turn on Hide Sidebar on Startup so the list starts hidden

Bring the sidebar back anytime with F9 / Cmd+B or the header toggle.

Optional: Show When No Tab Is Open — show the connection list again when you close all tabs and return to the start page.

Minimal sidebar vs fully hidden

Goal What to use

Fullscreen (F11) is separate — it hides chrome for the whole window, not only the sidebar.
